Oh man I messed up last night. I dunno how to explain when your just in a 'oh well fuck it' mentality. Lost $629 last night, pretty much came down to 3 100bb pots I lost and didnt need to lose that much at all. Just played awful and per title I pwned myself big time.

Tonight Ill probably just play 100nl or make a video for grinderschool so I can depress whatever the fuck happens to me last night.

Horrible hand 1 - Opp is a 15/12 nit, even though I been active i think its a fold when he shoves. Im thinking its better to call preflop since his 3bet calling range crushes our hand and we can 3bet junk here instead. JJ is too good to 3bet for FE imo.

Horrible hand 2 - Opp is a tag, I reasoned myself that shoving river will also get calls form JJ and QQ and offset losses vs Kx. I think I should of checked back river since I really dont think ill get called by worse often enough. btw ran into quads twice last night.

hand 2 is super standard, but i also like a smaller bet on the river for value.

hand 1 your saying that 3betting JJ in the BB vs a CO opener < calling with it OOP vs a CO opening range? Even vs a 15/12 i think 3betting is better here, especially if you have an active image. You also have to consider sample size for villains stats, but maybe you have plenty of hands on him.

You guys are right about the AA hand, bode I prefer either bet tiny or shove hoping opp spazzes out either way. A normal sized VB i dont like.

Made another grinderschool video (still in raw video) and won $7 , well I took that $7 and put it on a 100nl table and turned it into $460 dollars. Seriously played 100nl and crushed it lol, 100nl is a slightly timid beast compared to 200nl. So up $467 tonight.

    Some fun hands;;;;;

Been awhile since I updated mostly due to work having now banned all the internet.

ive not played many hands at all and today was my 4th session of the month but wanted to add Ive broke the 9k barrier. BR at $9072 which Im delighted with, if i can hit $10k itll be the highest roll ive ever had.

Yay, oh and plus Im also in the HU competition and drew bode in first round.

    What's up folks!!

I'm not dead. Haven't had tons of time for poker lately since basketball has distracted me loads, both with the playoffs and I've also decided to play at the top club level in Ireland. Training hasn't been too hectic and looks to be just twice a week for next few months but I'll also have to hit the gym.

Pokerwise I can still fit in 2-3 short sessions a week which is still good I guess. I've about 9k still, withdrew a small bit to buy some new bball gear since most of my stuff is like 4+ years old.

Lately when I play it's just 100nl for abut of fun since I'm abut rusty imo. I was thinkin of playing some 200nl since I've the roll, only play short sessions, more interestin to review too.

So basically I'll try update when I can and post some hands. Good luck

played 200nl last night and won $332. Delighted it went well tho I stationed half a buyin by paying off an obv better full house than mine, gotta work on my discipline there.

Roll is at 9.3k now since I took out $600 to buy some bball gear. I may be able to get in a quick game on Saturday hopefully. I may just stick to 200nl from now on and try settle in properly. I dunno why I play way overrolled really.

Another short session tonight, was looking forward to it after going to the gym for the first time in ages. Getting back into the bball, ill so need to get stronger to deal with the pro league here, anyway back to poker Yea played 200nl and im +$282 which is sweet. so far so good since my focus has returned.

Heres a fun hand vs a reg, i stacked him previously with AK on AJ9KA board when i checked back turn and he had 99. Got allin on river plus we also shipped in AK each preflop and chopped.

This hand is funny, made Im getting better but Im just lucky but this was a snapple for me :P

Won another buyin yday at 200nl, BR sits nicely at $10,200.

I was messing around today on pc, played 25nl with no hud for kicks. Never played without one before. I recorded it with no audio, theres some interesting spots. Ill post it for any beginners who wanna see a free vid, just note the JJ hand at the end is a turn fold and def a riv fold but i stationed up since meh $8 calls are ez.

Running well is so so good, more people should try it

Played 200nl, tables werent great. On average one fish per table, Im getting very confident in my game and my though process before taking any decisions. I actually recorded the sesh with no audio whihc i think helps me focus more.

Heres a fun hand that wasnt fun before the river, I just won a buyin a few hands earlier and looked to give it away. Co opener was a nit like 14/9 so i didnt 3bet BUT the BB had a squeeze stat of 100% in about 5-8 spots, he was on another table doing it. Later I shove 200bb deep preflop when he squeezed 4bet me and he was deep. He folded right away. Unfortunately he had a hand here

Just giving a quick ipod post. Poker is still going well, my last sesh was just breakeven so I'll at least get some rakeback. Wanted to say I may take a shot at 400nl on Friday, gf is going out and the games will be softer. Here's hoping I run like god.

Main reason I wanna post is to talk about my shot at pro bball in my country. Last night I had a really great training session, my hook shots, drop steps and positioning were on the money. The coach has been impressed and thinks I can make an impact in the league, it wud be class to not just be a bench warmer this has me in a pretty good mood and wanted to share.

training was cancelled today unfortunately as I was kinda egging to train. Sundays we do individual training with the coach ie shoting drills for guards and post work for big men. Id do the shooting drills too. usually last like an hour and a half and id feel dead afterwards. Ok so anyway i played poker for about 50 minutes, only went and played 100nl though I could of played 200nl but meh, results was +$218 so doesnt matter what stake i played. Finished playing 27/22 which is nice too, nobody at the table gave me any problems at all.

Dunno if i mentioned it below but im looking at more spots to 3bet in position along with increasing my 3 betting in total. Of course this doesnt mean maniac 3 betting but instead looking for the sweet spot. Overall 3b% today was 10%, lol literally just checked my stats and I didnt 3bet anyone in CO or BTN. I 3bet a ton in blinds, i did make a 4bet bluff that worked so whatever.

Also my bank roll has hit over $11,000 Suuuuuuwwweeeettttttt

I think you won about twice as much in as many hands though? What the heck was your winrate?

lol, I'm not sure, though I'm on a fairly gross heater at the moment where im running at 17.4 bb/100 over 40k of 1/2 and 23 bb/100 over 3k of 2/4.

Just need to put some volume in, would def be interested in a prop bet of some sort as an incentive to grind, I don't mass multitable so it would be fair.

Lol that's a sweet winrate. I'll decline on the prop bet thx. I just can't get the hands in now since I'm playing more bball.

Cool week this week, went to the gym on Tuesday and training on Wednesday. I played alright, Wednesdays bball is mostly scrimmage. Was lucky for the random teampicking for me to end up on a fully pro team vs a mix of pros and randomers who want a game. Only 2 losses at the start of the session then wins till the very end. Fitness has greatly improved thanks to forcing myself onto the treadmill for 15 min each gym session. Ive actually gained weight which is odd since Ive alot to shed, im 17 1/2 st.

ok so onto the poker, well the main reaosn im blogging is because I took a shot at 400nl. Games on FTP had highish vpip so I said why not.

Heres some fun hands, firstly my god awful call on river here. This is plain awful and I closed my eyes and called. Std fold on river. Was up like 4100 at that point to put me down $300.

So so sweet, so my first shot at 400nl netted me +$843 yay. plus i got in like 1k hands so the RB will be a nice piece too. 400nl didnt seem to play much diff to 200nl, there were some more 4 betting than usually and I shied away from some preflop aggro spots but overall I feel really good.

Wont be playing till Sunday at the earliest since Ive a work social and gf's nieces bday on Saturday. oh well, i think ill be happy with how things are till then lol.

Thx for readin this insanely long post!!!

fairly long time since I posted, was on hols in Salou, Spain for 2 weeks with the girlfriend. I was playing poorly before I went on hols so it came at a good time, I only lost like $500 I think but I just wasnt playing focused. Only over this weekend did I play some, only played 100nl bcoz I just feel so goddamn rusty sometimes. I may of broken even over the 3 days I played if not for a small profit.

Basketball has been going really good I think, went to the gym 3 times this week and Im def improving my strength aswell as noticing physical changes. Coming back from holiday I weighted 245 lbs or 8st 9 lbs which is probably the heaviest Ive known myself to be. Im not too concerned though about losing weight, Im just looking to add muscle for the season. Im trying to do like 20min on the treadmill everytime I go the gym during the off season. Im gonna go to a scrimmage game on Wed with my old club since my team to be this year isnt scrimmaging while my coach is back in america looking for recruits.

Took $1k off my roll leaving 11.5k behind, to spend on me. Bit annoyed at playing badly so I took some off. Ended up getting €692, spent €317 on eastbay.com (love that site) on 3 Jordan tracksuit bottoms, white air force 1 low, Jordan 6 i think and CP3. Bit overboard but meh I had fuck all when I was a kid so I spoiled myself. The rest of the money disappeared on holiday spending money, Im proper broke now after the holiday and wont be heading out anywhere. So Ill be looking to grind some more although my shot at basketball is coming before poker.

Will update some with some poker content.

Only place I ever buy apparel & clothing. I was thinking of buying a Nike Zoom Soldier and a few Puma track pants and a few shorts this month though, I plan to resume physicial training and pickup basketball seriously after like 4 years of hiatus.

Last night I had a mixed bball session (boys and girls) which was abit of fun. Training with an old team tonight.

So anyway played some 200nl last night for probably an hour at max but less id say. Won +$336, really nice to book that. I had some interesting spots which I will post in the forums when I get home. Still feeling a little rusty but played well.

Going be out of the office today but have some poker videos to watch at lunch, btw can you watch a 2 or 4 tabling videos properly on a PSP?? I know Ben should know this :P

You cant really see what the cards are, but generally the author will tell you what he has in the interesting hands anyway. I cant remember once being confused about what was going on or what the hand strength was and I've watched a HEAP now on the PSP. Probably more on that than on the PC tbh.

Hmm i dunno then if Ill get one for my bday from the gf. Thinking of either getting more bball gear (which i will need training like 4 times a week plus 3 gym sessions) or a guitar and start learning my countrys traditional songs which are class.

Just finished a session there, +270 for the night at 200nl. Tbh I think I can still beat think level for 5bb/100 even though Im not 100% fit. Thought id throw in some hands if anyone wants to talk some, I know I dont add much into this blog regards colours and suits.

Hand 1 - biggggggggggggest mistake of the night. Afterwards I felt I didnt think this through enough and it is just awful. Was up a stack at that point then blew it, oh well. Opp is like 13/8 nit lol.

Sweet anyway, I decided what I wanted for my bday. More bball gear lol, got 2 more runners. The Adidas Garnett ones which Ill use to play games during the season (they are green and match the jersey) and I got the ones kobe wore in olympics which are sweet and will prob use for training. They are abit too much to wear casually.

Was supposed to go the gym but had beers with a mate who came over, was too hungover this morning although I could of went instead of playing poker. If I had of lost Im sure Id be pissed for not going lol.

lol thanks dude, Im considering purchasing a couple dumbbells and an EZ bar along with decent weights. It help counter the times I miss a gym session, I would use them. Working out arms and shoulders wouldnt take long at home.

Quick update, went to the shops today and got some free weights. dumbbells with like 35kg discs. Also got fight night 4 for cheap enough, i dont play games much at all anymore (also got rid of xbox360 which didnt work great anyway) but a few friends have this so itll be good to kick their asses.

Big news today was I went with gf on a 7 mile run. Took about 1hr 10min, easy for her since she does alot of running. I wasnt to bad but Im fairly beat.

No poker for me today Id say, only have about 30 min free so im gonna play some ps3. Cya later.

God my 7 mile run has given me a massive blister EEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww so I didnt do any running in the gym yday. Did life my heaviest bench press of 70kg though and got 7 reps with no spot, tbh I think Im still just testing my body as I seem to be able to lift heavier each session. The max I could do in college was 100kg for like 1 rep lol though.

Came home, had a protein shake, then played poker. Ive a few hands I had a problem with that i may post. Ended up $85 over an hours play, was up like $306 though about 10 minutes before the end until i lost with 99 on QQ9ss flop vs Q6, we got allin on flop. Unreal lol, funny I was only 75% to win when I checked when I assumed its alot more.

Got a scrimmage game tonight which will be fun, gotta collect my contact lenses beforehand though. My blister is gonna hurt

Again another no content post bcoz Im so bored in work :P.

I fail at gym so so much. Only went once this week, I did have to bring work home over this long weekend in Ireland but I could still of went. Its not been a total loss as I have played some poker. Took another shot at 400nl and won almost a buyin. Won and lost a few 50bb pots to end up like $365 or so. Played 2 200nl sessions today, lost almost all of my $365 but came back in second session to be only down $90. Released $30 of my FTP $100 bonus so far, nice that its an easy bonus.

Ive no hands to post since they were mostly standard or didnt require too much thought. I will say I didnt play my best today which Im obv critical of myself. usually I tak etime off to reflect but I didnt play horrible just mnot great. Like a C+ game

I did get 6 months sub on DC to fill the gaps between good BFP videos.

I've been like that with gym lately. Good plans but keep skipping. Really got to get out on the bike a lot in the next couple months so will be focusing mainly on that, but want to keep enough weights up to get some results also.
Just dipping my toes back in.
  56. #131
Almost back to break even for the month Played bad at 200nl in one session dropping 3 buyins, took away my profits for the month but Ive made some progress getting it back.

I signed up for DC sub bcoz I just dont get enough from BFP, totally love their vids but just not enough. Ive actually rewatched so many of them. Since resigning I actually feel Ive had an ahah moments a few times already from their videos, Im pretty sure I can lag it up now properly. Ok so thats my poker rant bcoz I feel really inspired to get way better.

Also to add I didnt go the gym BUT I did work out while watching a poker video with my free weights, bball scrimmage 2m.

Been a week since I updated. Few things in general before I talk poker, basketball is gonna start up properly now. Season starts end of sept/start of October, the coach is back from scouting/holiday from america so preseason is upon us. Hopefully he found a good player to add to the team, Im def the best big man the team has currently imo so we will see who shows up to preseason and I hopefully get some minutes. Kinda excited and anxious though, dont wanna blow my chance at playing regularly.

Had a scrimmage session last night, went fairly well though my jump shot wasnt as effective as it has been but in fairness Ive not been able to practice much. Once preseason kicks off Ill get it back.

Ok now onto poker, won about $270 last night at 200nl. Was bouncing between -$300 and breakeven a few times until a fish bluffed off air vs 2 pair about 150bb+deep so land me in the green. Im having some self-control tilt issues right now, lucky Im not hemoerraging (sp?) so much since I still come out with a profit but last night easily cost me $300 and Im pretty sure my last say 3-4 sessions it has cost me circa $300 each session. I beat 200nl for 4bb/100 and should be even higher if I found my fold button. Im playing good in spots that are close BUT it the spots I know Im beat but say fuck it im tilted.

    So Im obviously Im tilted away from the table bcoz of my play at the table. Ive been listening to some Tommy Angelo videos on DC and blahblah work on my C game blah blah but instead of just saying blah blah blah C game Ive a few things I wanna actually focus on;

-> If I find Im not playing my best simply try to focus on one hand at a time then do it again and again and again. I find after about 10 hands of focusing I can carry on in the session playing a much better game.
-> When Im tilting and wanting to spew buyins I should probably quit BUT I dont play often enough or have enough options for when to play again SO I should move tables and start afresh without prior history with opps I spew to or renew my focus properly ie. ''im not gonna spew this hand/orbit, focus on each street and decision.''
-> Playing tired, I can still win playing tired while tiredness can def affect my play. Yday I worked 9-5 then bball 1.5hours then playing for like 1.5-2 hours, this sucks but cant be helped. Again regaining focus, drinking water and even breathing exercises imo are good way to combat most of these problems.

Ok enough mindless posting, I just wanted to put thoughts on paper. At leat Im still beating 200nl comfortably while thinking Im playing horrible lol.

Didnt go the gym last night, instead opted to play some poker then workout with my weights while watching a DC video. I didnt pick a good video even though it had FWF commentating, the other guy on the video sounds like the guy from BoSelecta so was a joke and got nothing from it. Checked out another DC instructor Gman, this guy is class but I just forgot what his name was so happy to find them video though they are mostly HU vids.

So carrying on from my previous post were I wanted to improve my mindset, I think I did pretty well. I think I played at least my B game, I do hate say playing my A game. A game is basically the best I (and I emphasise the I) can play which isnt that great compared to others but I did play well and reasonably satisfied. Ended up winning $525, I dont think there was any spots were I made huge mistakes and cost myself more profit. I beleive most spots were close and fine.

Earlier ths month I withdrew $600 which translated to €400, local shop near me had cool jordan bball gear I had to get and since Im broke I said Id use poker mobnies. The remaining €200 I will add to my savings for a deposit for a house with the girlfriend we plan to buy next year. Right now Im well overrolled for 200nl at about €13k so Ive considered withdrawing 50% of my winnings each month. This allows my bankroll to still increase and since I will be playing alot more bball than poker I probably wont be looking to try shoot/settle into 400nl before April when the seasons over.

    Ok update done :P, gl

I'm going relocate soon from France to Guatemala and taking my desktop is difficult/expensive so I've been looking into buying a laptop and ran into the M17x as well. On the one hand I know I'm paying for the looks more than anything else, and you can get something similar for about 200-400 euros less but god damn it makes me want to fap just looking at it. You can control the highlights on the keyboard and air intakes as well - color and all. How fucking cool is that.

Also been looking at the Dell XPS studio 16 - quite a bit cheaper, can get similar specs and it's still a pretty sexy machine. Still don't know which I'll take in the end.

Let us know if you go for the Alienware though - it is one sexy beast.

God what a difference a few months can make, its felt like a long time since I last posted in this blog.

As some of you know Im playing the top level of basketball in Ireland. I train Mon,Tues,Wed,Thurs with a game to play between Fri and Sun. Unfortunately the team is 0-4 for the season so far . Ive been getting a solid 20 minutes play per game, averaging 8 points but fuck all else really, for 6'6'' im getting piss all rebounds which is what my role should be within this team and I really really need to focus on my defense to get more minutes. Currently Im not starting and know for a fact Im way better than the guy ahead of me so I think rebounding and defense I a major thing for me to focus on.

Also I got engaged a couple months back, yay. Thats all good, only downside is Ive basically withdrew my whole roll of about 12.5k. I bought a ring, put more money into savings for house deposit, pay off small debt, little bit for Oktoberferst holiday, lost $880 ty eurolinx.

So poker-wise where am I? Well I redeposited 1k recently, took shot at 50nl, lost $250. So back to $750 now, pretty much not happy with where I am regards poker now since imo I can beat 200nl comfortably and a nice amount. I may redeposit a few hundred each month to help speed up my return to the higher levels.

    So what are my kinda goals finishing out the year;

    1) Basketball; gotta focus on rebounding and defense

    2) Read, post and review poker hands, posts and videos

    3) Play poker when I have the time

Granted Ive not too much spare time for poker so Id like to shake off rust by reading etc. If Im settled at 50nl by the end of the year (2 months) Im probably doing well, I will either of deposited more or found time to grind. The basketball seasons over around March/April so Id like to be at 100nl by then.

Had a fun session of poker there, +$88 at 25nl (was +$125 but thank you variance) so obv very happy. Played a good game, didnt get sucked into any tilt spots and largely gave credit to unknowns.

    Heres a fun hand towards the very end of the session;

Opp is like 45/30 type player. Opens alot, ive 3bet him some, floated him maybe twice. Mostly only small pots and no big big history. However in the very last orbit he made to exact same move on flop where i cb flop utg and he raised the same amount. flop was also almosty identical before with Axx flop (dunno if he had a flush draw) so basically I went with the equity of my hand vs he sets/2pairs/draws/air (I havent stoved it but im doing well imo since he calls so light preflop). If I hadnt hit my King on turn id still c/c down. On river I check back since I dont think theres any value, he doesnt have Ax like ever. just air and draws which aint callign anything.

When you call the flop what is your turn plan? How much is it affected by his bet sizing and the actual card that comes off? If you don't mind me asking, O much better player than me.

First I figure to have the best hand on flop alot so Im happy calling flop.

    Turn play is based on a few things;

If Im checked too Im probably gonna barrel turn and river, im barrelling turn to protect my hand and im barrelling river just to protect myself the times he himself makes some weak pair to beat me thats folding to a bet, such a hand would be if he had 68o and hit a 6.

If a flush card hits Im not in a bad spot since Ive a decent redraw.

Im intending on calling a fair amount of turns but we will shutdown some % of the time. Now I key a key point is that I expect him to fire turn a fair amount given just how wide his preflop calling range is here (ie he has a fairly wide bluffing/drawing range). But I dont expect him to 3 barrel alot since my likely holding appears to be an Ax hand.

On river, Im slightly rethinking to myself whether theres some value in betting my KQ hand. Would suck to be c/r'd but imo if he wanted to bluff he would bet river. I dont see many hands he will c/c river still though, Id expect him to fold KTs he had above given what my hand looks like, also I expect even a poor player such as him to figure Ax is my likely holdings since figuring that out isnt rocket science.

    Hope that helps ill.
