this program is very interesting- i mean the thing is over a large sample size i assume its semi-accurate at to what a real winrate should be, but obv over a short sample it doesnt include setups and all that nonsense...

lol...considering I played most of my hands at 200nl this month, it's actually close to 5 BI = 1k...not a lot but at least red is over blue

4-tabling now I'll prolly upgrade from sweatshops wages to East Europe wages at least. loool!!!

i've been running crappily too. here's my graph since this started--

i get the feeling this competition will heat up soon, everyone seems "due" for it.
  18. #168
Today I started my "10k hands of only 4-tabling" operation. I realized I simply was not good enough to play 8 tables at a time. I was missing too much info and making bad plays, which resulted in massive tilt usually...

Felt much more comfortable 4-tabling and was able to make some sick calls, better plays overall, less spew, etc...regardless of results.

  19. #169
i kind think my best place is 6 tabling as i can take enough time to really think thru every hand. 8+ tabling ill do running 18/16 or something if games r just amazing and i only feel like capitalizing on donk's mistakes....

lol i would be up so much more for this challenge if i didnt tiltily decide to play gabe in 200nl omaha hi/lo and donk off 10 bi at a time going all in pf every hand hahahahahha.... no but fo realz
I got more flava than fruitstripe gum
  21. #171
    hahahahha

I just did that EV calc on only my hands from 3/6 since the challenge began- so apparently at only 3/6 im up 7300, and with my equity adjusted if i was running "avg" I would be up 15k...

but counting my losses at 5/10 (im not counting my wins at 5/10 only my losses because honestly im not supposed to be playing it till challenge is over) which are -3k and my crushing losses in nl omaha hi/lo im only up 3k for the challenge... sighhhhh- running bad/being a retard is hurting my chances to win this thing

just had a hand i got a kick from. prob fairly standard for most of you, but i need to do this more.

i just tried the ev thing, and here's my graph since may 9 (otherwise just default settings):

lol. i know i've run bad, but seems like a stretch, especially since i should only be down ~1k.
cool program though. i gotta mess around with it more later.
are there special settings? i must be missing something on how it works...
  24. #174
I tried the EV thing and the graph is better when you check the ETW tab for Expected Total Winnings. What I don't understand about it is my expected winrate is never more than 1.5 over any decent hand amount, and is usually less than 1.0?

So what are the current standings???
"It is impossible for you to learn what you think you already know."
  25. #175
I downloaded that program and it seems like it could be useful but i dont know understand half of the information and how to interpret it.
  26. #176
Not too sure how to interpret it either. Obv if expect showdown > actual showdown, you run bad...But if total winnings is way below showdown winnings, does it mean you spew a lot, like u bluff or something, then you fold before river??

As for the challenge I'm not too sure of the rankings since a few people didn't post weekly updates on Sunday.

  27. #177
Mine actual winnings and showdown winnings were pretty close together and about $740 above expected showdown winnings at 100NL over 6300 hands.

Does this mean i just play bad but run good? Because i havent felt like ive ran spectacular.

Not sure I like this hand, it could go from totally spew, to brilliant

The guy just set over setted me, where I raise flop with my set and we get it allin on turn, so my image is good. He is also overly aggressive postflop. When it gets to the river its like what kind of hand bluffs here with no fold equity??? I mostly put him on Ax or draw.

There's no way he's folding Ax on that river ever, is there?

Anyways I downloaded the EV thingy and ran all the hands in the challenge:

Running goot in all-in hands. Sadly I seem to give alot of it away in other hands.

-2.3k for Challenge so far but haven't really played this week because of a concert I'm giving this Tuesday.

    +11k-ish. Posting screenshots tomorrow.

Do we count donkaments? in that case + 26k
  42. #192
    damn halvsame, nice work.
but i say we don't count tournys, since this seemed to be for cash games, and i think no one else plays them enough.

    as for my update - i'm -$700.

i didn't do much poker stuff this week, but did some thinking/reviewing and realized i still have a lot of stuff to improve on, mostly adapting more, playing trickier sometimes, and staying more focused/relaxed to get better reads and make less spewy calls and bluffs.
i'm realizing good table selection, at least with US-restricted sites, isn't really enough for me to have a high winrate at mid-stakes.

Yeah, I agree, donkaments don't count. Was just poking my nose and rubbing it in . Here's my week 3:

  44. #194
I realized that I can 10-table and play well too, it's just that I have to stop immediatly when I tilt/start playing badly. This is last 8 days results including today. Was supposed to be 4-tabling but MTT ratio = 5.37 and hourly rate of 336$.

    Today's short and sweet session:

+8k for the challenge, not playing much these days but happy with the results. I'm catchin up!!

well I'm at least up some now, $500 or so counting full tilt. +8k/11k/whatever sounds a lot better though...nice job alexos, halvsame, sauce.

btw, I just had to request another withdrawal of $6,400 from UB since my crack habit is getting expensive.
also i switched my UB name (just was tired of old one), andy-akb can verify since he played at the time I did it. just so this doesn't sound too shady...here's a screen shot:

and jk about the crack heh. i have been away from poker a lot lately though since a couple friends moved away the last week, so was chillin with them.
will play more now though, and should play better after how the first half of this went!
  46. #196
good day today, ~3k up now.
still a lot to improve on, but overall playing a lot better lately.
  47. #197
yea so like i think i could almost eek out a win rihgt now: so heres the scoop

    HYACHACHACHACHACHACHACHACHACHACHACHACHACHA

Not only did I not get my Hud to work after wasting 6 hrs browsing random forums, but when I DID sit down to play a few hands before sleeping I dropped about 800$ at nl200 in less than 100 hands.

This is no biggie. but what drives me insane is that for some stupid reason my new cpu wasn't set for this session to be recorded by pokertracker WTF so I can't even see exactly how much I dropped and my fucking ptracker numbers are all fucked up for the challenge.

With Vista you have to run programs as administrator for them to work...

So, left-click HUD --> properties --> shortcut --> advanced --> run as administrator

Am pretty wasted, just played some nl100 for fun on my old shitty laptop.

Was booking a nice little win (dunno maybe a buy in or so) when this beautiful misclick happened on the last orbit on my last table because of sick overlap :

    - scot5120 sitting in seat 1 with $199.84 [Dealer]
    - kingofkongs sitting in seat 2 with $98.35
    - Genitruc sitting in seat 3 with $163.32
    - Pidde1979 sitting in seat 4 with $197.10
    - BehMiks sitting in seat 5 with $59.00
    - slkdp sitting in seat 6 with $98.50

kingofkongs posted the small blind - $0.50
Genitruc posted the big blind - $1.00

    ** Dealing card to Genitruc:
    Pidde1979 called - $1.00
    BehMiks folded
    slkdp folded
    scot5120 called - $1.00
    kingofkongs called - $1.00
    Genitruc checked

    ** Dealing the flop:
    kingofkongs checked
    Genitruc checked
    Pidde1979 bet - $4.00
    scot5120 called - $4.00
    kingofkongs called - $4.00
    Genitruc went all-in - $163.32
    Pidde1979 called - $163.32
    scot5120 folded
    kingofkongs folded

    ** Dealing the turn:

    ** Dealing the river:
Genitruc shows: King of Diamonds, Queen of Hearts
Pidde1979 shows: 5 of Clubs, 5 of Hearts

ok- so i feel like the baller challenge is losing steam lately... and i have a couple problems:

    1. im not really sure how much i have won but i think im kinda close to being done (def over 15k)

    2. i really really wanna move up to 5/10

so ill throw out a proposal if anyone accepts/thinks this is a good idea post in this thread:

Anyone in the challenge who has won over 10k at this point (so me, halvsame, alexos?, benny?) have a 100 bet freezeout at 200nl or whatever, winner take all. We get other ppl in the baller challenge to fill the seats. So it will def be high variance fun, but with enough bets to make it not ridiculous- and 100 bet freezeouts would be sick as i think the strategy would be kind if in depth.

If everyone thinks this (or some variant) is a good idea pm or post plz CAUSE I WANNA PLAY 5/10 OMG!!!

15k is more or less the halfway mark, not really close to being done imo. Im at just over 20k myself and still have a good way to go before I start feeling close.

At any rate I think taking the current leaders and letting them battle it out is really, really unfair to the others. It's only been a month today and we all know how much variance can be had in such a small time span. It's also/mostly a matter of principle, when we have agreed upon a set of rules they should stay that way imho.

Besides, it's not like there's a million dollar price pool, there's nothing wrong with signing out and playing 1kNL if you want to. Who knows, you might even start out running bad and be back to finish the challenge still.

Edit: I'm also gonna re-quote this for truth:

This is really important as to what the spirit of the challenge is to me (that and the bragging rights {arh} ). To end it prematurely doesn't fly by me at all. (might be the wrong expression)

I have exactly 0% chance of winning since I'm still down for challenge, my laptop with Ptracker stats is gone, and I'm leaving for the summer on July 6th, but I still think it's fairest to play it out.

ya lets play this out. but how about for anyone who wants to try 5/10, just count 60% of the $ made or lost there?
seems like that would even it out for ppl who cant play that high.

and i agree about posting some more thoughts and hands and whatnot, but still...this will prob heat up again once 1st and 2nd place are closer to decided.

btw im just up 6-7k. the 1st week of may i was up 7k, then had a lot of swings after the challnege started.
but i'm gonna seriously try out 3/6 and maybe 5/10 finally, so watch out!
