Default Movin on Up - $50NL *Update*

Just me checking back in. I have a couple of questions at the end of the post for anyone who doesnt wanna read all this bullshit I have between here and there.

I have managed to turn that first $150 deposit into $900 in the last two weeks which has really given me alot of confidence. Bonuses have been an immense help to my bankroll, and padded a couple of the rough landings Ive taken over the last couple days.

If I could plug the leak of calling pre-flop all ins with pocket aces against jack-eights and losing then I will be very successful. Actually though, I need to stop betting so hard on the turn with missed AK's and AQ's and calling medium sized river bets.

Soon as I hit $1,000 I plan on moving up to the full ring $50 NL tables found at the party skins. The majority of any wins I have above a grand I will be cashing out as my first poker profits.

    Now, to my questions..
    - Are the $50NL tables going to play any different from what I am seeing at the $25 tables?

    - Have I been freakishly lucky? I know for sure I used to totally suck, but after reading 3 of the holdem books recommended on here, playing for hours a day (at least 6), and reading up on the FTR forums my game has changed.

So far, it has been so easy playing these tables that I am almost afraid to change anything up. I feel like winning at these stakes has meant playing like a robot and that I have learned nothing. Reads on players influence few of my decisions beyond calling against maniac small stacks or limping in out of position against passive tables.

    - Can I get some feedback from people who have been there, done that, and crushed the $50NL tables (ilikeaces, rilla) concerning what a solid win rate looks like in dollars? Also, how much of your earnings do you re-invest in the bankroll for the purpose of moving up again in the future?

    -Any random advice, suggested reading?

Dale? How goes it up there in the fifties?

I moved up to the $50 NL 6-max tables after winning over $1000 on the $25 NL 6-max tables, and I've been struggling. I am up maybe $100 after I think 6000 hands.. At one point I was down like $400 and in jeopardy of moving back down to $25 NL. If you look in the hand histories and tales sections I've posted a bunch of hands in the past 30 days or so. If you move up and have success please let me in on your secret!

ILikeAces has stated that the 10-max $50 NL tables play much tighter than any other level on Party Poker.

I believe RDOlivah also plays the $50 NL 6-max tables. I'd like to hear his opinions..

Hmm...I can see the fifties being tighter for having more solid people who graduated up from the $25NL tables.

If people are playin to gamble small money I imagine they would be at the $25 tables. Anyone wantin to gamble big money would probably skip the $50NL tables

Well, I'm not sure this applies now that Party changed everything , but here's what would have happened BEFORE.

yeah, teh $50 tables play tighter than any I've EVER seen on PP. I'm not kidding. I'd been playing on royalVegas for quite a while before I went to party. Started at the $25 Nl tables for maybe a week, got bored, moved on to $50 NL. Lost a little bit to the little tightwads there, and found my new happy home at $100 NL.

Of course, with the new blind structures, now my new happy home is $200 NL, but yeah...

At any rate, the jump from $25 NL to $100 NL might be a toughy, so I'd advise caution. of course, with the new party blind structure changes, I'd imagine that the $50 NL tables are now a lot looser?

At any rate, good luck with whatever you choose. Just try not to use it against me.

Well thanks for the reply. I decided to wait until I have 1k to move to the $50 tables which I was on track for about a week ago with my bonuses until I hit some tough cards so Now im sittin with about 750 and waiting again. I have a strategy to crack those tables when I do move up thanks to somebody.

Are the 100 and 200 tables extremely difficult? I know sound strategy and a little deception play a bigger role there, but does it get super intensive yet?

Well if you're playing at Party you haven't really moved up, right? They just increased the stack sizes relative to the blinds. So NL 50 is basically equivalent to NL 25 last month.

I thought you were multiple levels above me, johnny. Wow - gotta say this is slightly shocking...In a good "I'm better than I thought" way, rather than a "he's not as good as I thought" way.

Actually, when they changed the blind/stack size ratio, I moved up to NL $100. So I'm still one step ahead of you. Don't worry though, I may be joining you in a bit..

Technically, 2 steps after my tilt session a week ago. Had to bump down. Will be back up by the end of this week though, I expect...maybe sooner if I feel frisky.

I dont see how me switching from the 25 to 50 is not considered moving up.

I base what level of stakes I play at on how many buyins my bankroll can afford (15-20) not on the blinds.
Twice as much money is at stake at each table. I just take small pots when I can, but otherwise Im just waiting for good opportunities to get it all in against someone else.
I can see it being different at 6max..but for me the full ring games are just move-in games.

    Johnny, a couple questions...

Are the $100 games very much harder?
How much BR would be sufficient for those stakes?
