I like the meatball sub the best but I feel like I'm being scammed since I then don't go for any salad as it'd get soggy and gross but they're factoring the cost into my sub price. White people have it tough.

to be honest though if you're having shitty processed meat why not go all the way? i have a soft spot for italian BMT, if they're doing that as the sub of the day i'm a pretty happy camper.

meatballs are actually the only non garbage meat at subway according to some guy at gym who worked there. IF I go all the way its the melt for sure. nomm

I like meatballs but it makes the bread soggy and they're slightly too big so gets messy Never tried it with salad tho

Italian BMT is my staple subway, can mix up sauces etc and still be happy. Starting to like chicken tikka quite a lot too

FWIW, marksdailyapple is pretty good. I don't follow it, but a lot of my twitter people do and link stuff constantly. Don't stress on the eating too much. Sounds like you're making better choices, so just keep doing that. Try not to get stuck in the rigidness of the 6 meals a day, macro splits and pre and post workout bullshit if you can. Some people need those rules to stay on plan, but what you eat in a day, day in day out is more important than any one meal. From what I read you need to just work on one change at a time. So focus on getting veggies, tons of them on a day to day. Keep taking the supps and everything else is minutia that falls into place.

Sounds like the healthy part of life is going well as is poker. Glad to hear it for sure. You'd go a long ways if you'd cut Subway out all together other than when you just have to eat out and there is not other/better options. Even if you go to a fast food joint like Wendy's or Carl's Jr and ask for a burger minus the bun.

This post will be a brief one about the undetermined life EV of having someone else clean your living space for you.

I can not stress enough the amount of life EV gained from having someone clean your home for you on a regular basis. If you make >20/hour, there is absolutely no reason for you not to hire a cleaner. If you can't afford weekly, get bi-weekly. If you can't afford that, work on cutting expenses in other areas of your budget. I went months without hiring a new cleaner after my last one moved and I can't believe I didn't act on getting a substitute sooner. It fees like I've had a barbell on my back twice my weight for the past x # of days, and it's finally off.

Finding indirect ways to increase your productivity is huge and highly beneficial to your overall happiness, as well as success in your professional life. I would advise outsourcing as much fluff as you can to focus on your profession and other highly important things like friends and family. We have a limited time on this earth so use it wisely. If your job has limited room for advancement and you aren't getting many hours, then yes it would make more economical sense to do it yourself. However, if you're in the right situation, don't make excuses. The $60ish ballpark you'll spend each week is more than offset with the benefits you'll receive. I'm open to criticism with this statement since its debatable. If you have a wife for instance you're set. But to the single professionals out there, quit wasting your time. Use it to accomplish tasks only you can do on your own, and make effective use of other peoples talents by employing them to do what they do best. By doing so, you'll maximize the potential of your own.

I agree with your post 100%. Right now I'm interviewing personal chefs for the very same reason.

I've been thinking about getting a cleaner too. A lot of my friends around here though feel the necessity to get someone that is referred to you. what do you think?

Oh man... well I'm lucky enough to be marrying my personal chef.. but yah that sounds sweet. Would be pretty expensive no.. courtie?

Awesome post M2M. Was thinking about getting a cleaner for when I move into new flat and that's made it 100% How often do you have them come round and what do they do?

Most of them come to your place once or twice a week to make food for a few days. Then you just reheat as needed. Doing it that way it's a lot more affordable. Our food bills will probably go up by 200-250%, but if we work for even half of the hours we save by hiring the chef, then it pays for itself. If we work for all the hours we save by not cooking/cleaning, then we make money.

My current cleaner was actually referred to me by my old one after contacting her to see if she knew anyone in the business since I couldn't find an applicant via classifieds that didn't come off as total riff raff (probably easier to find someone good in GTA due to having a larger pool of people to choose from). She does a solid job so far. She's been doing it for 15+ years and has her own website for contact so pretty professional. I managed to find a really good one on kijiji actually over a year ago but since it's been unsuccessful and I gave up on it fast earlier this year after getting some strange emails (example: HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM WANT TO CLEAN FOR YOU WE ARE 54 AND 51 YEARS OLD). Creepy shit. Only 100kish people in my city though. Hit or miss with the classifieds.

Cliffs: I would ask around and get someone referred to you before posting a classified ad.

I'm away a decent amount each month + live alone so I have her come bi-weekly. If I need her two weeks in a row I just let her know.

She cleans the floors (mop and vacuum) bathrooms, kitchen (sinks, shower, toilets etc), dusts, does my bedding and towels laundry, takes care of any dishes. Pretty standard stuff. A few minor things were missed this time but she left me a notebook to write out all additional tasks that weren't taken care of so I imagine after a few weeks the place will be looking perfect with little input on my end.

one of the ideas he brings up for maximizing your time is a personal chef. he talked specifically about ones that cook up a ton of meals for you to preheat and implies it being massively +EV so was curious if you got it from reading his book. is full of little pointers to improve efficiency at work and such

What do you do for meals and such? I seem to remember you had a PA that cooked you food. Do you still have that?

Also I had cleaners at my place yesterday for the first time ever. Definitely worth it! I don't need them every week but twice per month seems like it's going to work out great.

Yay to cleaners! I put in an inquiry to a cleaning service around here, but they never replied. Guess I'll continue in search of another one. I think that'll be a big change having a fully cleaned house every two weeks.

Mostly cook for myself, and eat out when traveling. There's maybe 3 places in town I frequent for food, two are thai the other is persian. American food sucks. Trying to eat clean these days, despite the thai dishes being jacked up on sodium. Meal replacement bars for when I put in long grind sessions are at the work station. Currently out of them though, and volume has been slacking... funny correlation there. They aren't really good for you but neither is starving.

Let us know how your meal plan works out for you.

Scuba diving is amazing. Possibly one of my favourite activities. Are you taking an open water course?

I went snorkeling today in Perranporth which is shite really but it's still really cool. There's just something about hanging out and exploring under water this feels so alien and relaxing.

Yeah, lots around Cornwall. U boats from WW1, WW2 ships too, it's meant to be pretty good. I've never done it though. I've only dived in warm tropical waters with lots of cool colourful fish and turtles and sharks etc to swim with. The water's so cold here that lots of people dive with dry suits and there's not a great deal of interesting marine life. That kinda kills the fun for me.

I've dived the Great Barrier Reef and did my open water at Julian Rocks Marine Reserve in Byron Bay and those places are just out of this world, so can't see the dull Cornish coast as particularly appealing for all the effort involved. Snorkeling for an hour is plenty of fun though.

I'll definitely dive again though, as soon as I'm somewhere warm with good diving I'll be straight in.

Increasing study time/effort is starting to pay off. Confidence is rising and knowing what ranges to play in different spots when short is on track to becoming second nature. Been super busy playing+study lately so haven't updated this in awhile. Now is a good time though since I am really stoked as I just won a satty to the €5,300 main event @ EPT Barcelona.

Fantastic news all round - really well done! (sorry, didn't mean to bust into your thread, but somebody needed to congratulate you...)

Looking forward to the trip reports if you can be arsed - I think Barce will be right up your street from what I've heard about it.

barcelona is nice. Give some money to a juggler on las ramblas, that was me once. Turned up in town with 30 euro left, juggling paid the bills until i skipped dodge and flew to the middle east where i got hooked up. Ahh, reminiscing. Kill it bro. Play a-game and run good.

It's been a few weeks now and the chef we chose has come 3 times to cook meals for us so far. Right now we're still cooking a bit to supplement the meals she makes because she only make 3 different things each times she comes (usually 8 meals of each) and I don't like to eat the same thing every day. We're building up a variety in the freezer, though, so we should be good in another couple weeks I think.

As for cost, it's between $10-$20 per meal depending on what it is. I've asked for only whole foods and no pre-made items, though, which is driving the cost up a bit. For example, I've asked her to make chicken stock from scratch rather than buy pre made stock. I wish I could also ask for organic produce and free run meats, but this chef thing is making me poor enough as it is :P

Courtie - that chef scene sounds sweet! Though holy $10-20 a meal is pretty pricey! So how much is this costing you a month?

I'm not sure yet because we are only eating the pre made meals a few times a week so far. Our food costs almost doubled last month, though. If I had to guess, we'll probably be paying ~$1.5k per month for the pre made meals (there's two of us) and then maybe $500 for the times we make our own food or eat out. I usually make breakfast, though, so those numbers are for two pre made meals per day, five days per week. And they're just estimates, so who knows what it'll actually end up being.

    late aug/early sept.

for those who read blog I have yet to gather time to write a vegas TR, but the short version is wliliam hill treated us like ballers and gave us a great vegas experience including much alcohol, clubbing, and dinner. I met some very interesting people from euro countries including lativa, Sweden, finland, Germany, spain, Austria and uk, which is really priceless. learning about other people and their culture is awesome and sitting at home grinding online isn't the way to go about this - so I encourage any pros out there who are able to travel not to make any excuses and just do it. playing live events is a great way to meet people with common interests. perhaps your hourly online is higher, but the overall life ev (utility) of the social aspect and new experiences outweighs that beyond whatever numerical calculation you come up with.

Now Im off to Brazil July 26 for a week to play the BSOP main and explore Sao Paulo.

Just caught up, great stuff M2, glad to see you doing well as always. Keep it up with the fitness/nutrition lifestyle, only positive things come out of that. Just know that you can "cheat," it is not the end of the world. Someone who I enjoy following is a natural bodybuilder, BioLayne (Layne Norton). He has his PhD in Nutritional Sciences and lifts an absurd amount of weight. He also preaches being able to incorporate "unhealthy" foods into your diet so you can live a normal life and not feel terrible about yourself when you have a cheat meal. Guy is very knowledgeable and 1/4 of the things he says leaves me clueless as I have no actual education in nutritional sciences. He has free information all over the internet, his website is www.biolayne.com

Also thanks for the idea of house cleaning, just used it in one of my answers to my Organizational Behavior class where I had to speak about time and money as I was taking a break reading FTR.

    Keep putting in work!
  52. #127
Yeah I actually loosened up the diet a bit. I think aiming for perfection at the start helped balance things out nicely so I eat pretty healthy overall.

Good to see you around these parts... move to Canada imo

Hey guys. Long overdue trip report re: Vegas can be found here: http://ryanmceathron.com/

Been going hard at the grind since my return, and will be keeping it up till I fly out to Brazil (Thursday). 18 hours of travel should give me time to study, read, and blog a bit. Until then, cheers and best of luck on and off the tables.

Back in canada. Sao paulo is an amazing city. I have fallen in love with South America. I met a girl from argentina there who works as an illustrator and we toured around the city after I busted the tournament. Met a few people from different countries and right off the bat was able to really appreciate their culture. it's not the same as Canada, and I like it more actually. Now I need to be held accountable for learning spanish so I can travel throughout argentina, chile, peru and so on. There's a good chance I'll look into moving there for a few months to grind and travel once I become fluent in the language in 1-2 years. I'll post my thoughts and experiences in my official blog shortly. Life is too short to stay in one place when your life circumstances allow you to move around freely (my 2c).

As for now I am playing online MTTs on the side of cash since volume is low in the evenings, and they are very good value. Have been studying a lot with hold'em resources and I can feel my game improving pretty rapidly.

Random observation: most MTT regs online just snap do everything. even when it comes down to calling off their stack on the river in a spot where clear thought is required and they aren't at the top of their range facing an all in. you can tell me all you want how your first instinct is often correct and I won't disagree, but that doesn't mean there are spots where you should clearly be tanking. I notice smaller stakes players do the same thing. Pro tip: use your brain guys.

I always look forward to your FTR Blog updates. You seem to lead an interesting life. This is coming from an ex-microdonk American. For the hell of it, what are these hold'em resources that you speak of? Also, never say (my 2c). Apparently, you and others use the term to be inoffensive, but it's actually redundant. Obviously, if you say something, it's your opinion.

    tl;dr
    I'm drinky!

PS - Do you remember Yawn? Is he still around? Prolly in the nosebleed stakes, right.
Explain...what I do for a living without saying "I make monies in da 600 enels by pwnin' tha donk bitches". Instead I say "I'm a online financial redistribution broker". - Sasquach991

Glad you had a great trip, that's awesome!

As for the snap calling. I agree with this on two fronts. First - you should obviously be taking a few moments to think regardless of how easy the spot is. Second - you should NEVER snap call, unless you have the nuts and not snap calling is slow-rolling. Even if in your head you're like "omg this makes no sense, snap call", don't ACTUALLY snap. Wait a bit, for show even. You don't want villain to know that you thought calling in a certain spot was such an easy snap call. You're giving away too much information by snapping.

    do it sooner
best way to learn spanish (imho etc) is to move to chile or similar and go to a language school 15hrs a week while making sure that you speak more spanish than english with whoever it is you are sleeping with.

My buddy has moved to Sao Paulo. He loves it. People are just happier and nicer, women are hot and love our exotic pale skin, weather is great, cost of living is lower than here and I imagine Canada. He's never been happier. Got a job with vice magazine out there and just had a kid with his Brazilian girl. I'm quite jealous.

To hold myself accountable for tomorrow, I make the plan public:

    Monday Funday:

-oats and chai + omega 3, multi
    -coffee
    -eggs/chicken/vege omelet
    -shower
    -meditation

    - grind full ring cash games, check the cap lobby and grind there if games are +
-if both games meh, watch a rit or leggo video.
-or if feeling more active read and take notes on no lmit book, or MOP

afterwards, grind until hungry for big meal - cook (snack berries when feeling low on glucose during session)
-grind after, short walk if feeling off beat

-hit gym later on (legg - hamstring isos), eat out before ok - after eat meal (cook) + protein shake. magnesium before+after

-grind, study, or read in evening before bed. dont forget zinc supp. consider workout earlier in day depending on a few variables

Grind for the week at fellow high stake crushers place in Toronto. Should be productive and fun times. Then EPT Barcelona. Despite almost dying of food poisoning over the weekend, life is good.

Which player? (if you can say)

Looking at booking flights to Toronto for November if everything works out well, quite a few friends out there. One of my mates who plays SNGs is playing EPT Barca, he's from Toronto, don't know if there's any connection tho

    Oxota on Stars.

Who is your SNG friend? If he plays on Stars $60s+ there is a likely connection.

If you come to Toronto def arrange a meet for FTR and any other poker guys to get dinner or something.

100% in for this. It's only £500 return flights, looking at coming out middle of November for ~2 weeks, will sort something closer to the time

    Back on the online grind

You have fun man? I'm going beginning of October, trip report please?
  74. #149
Hey man. I've decided to refrain from posting future trip reports. I know I said I would, and I do apologize for anyone wishing to read them. (Working on following through with what I say I will do, but unfortunately this isn't one of those things.) Other stuff has taken priority.

If you catch me in IRC though and are curious about anything I'll be happy to answer any questions re: barca.

    Update on myself:
Been super busy IRL so I've decided to throw blogging on the back burner. Recently just moved into my new office and loving it. Huge productivity boost. Going into the fourth week of a power lifting program and seem to be making gains every week with that, and really enjoying how it seems to add structure to my life. Met an awesome girl who studies @ the uni here recently and chemistry is very good. funny how when everything falls into place good women come around. Daily mediation has by far been the root of all the positive change. Now its time to just ride the momentum forward and fine tune the balance.

I dunno if I will update this much from here on, but maybe drop in once in awhile and see how people are progressing.

Anyone else here meditate with regularity? Feel free to drop in. Cheers and good luck @ the tables/life. Peace
