Default Langaan Back after 5 years

I started playing online poker in 2007. I started playing at 25NL, single tabling and if i remember correctly was winning consistantly.

After moving up in levels, multitabling, etc... i became a consitant losing player. I ended my online poker playing with some shots at higher levels and draining my bankroll out of boredom and just being tired of not getting anywhere.

I even remember talking back andforth alot with people on this forum, reading, watching jyms videos, and even getting some coaching from spenda.

fast forward, 5 years later in 2015.

    I started again with $500, playing 25NL.

I found it quite easy so started multitabling again and it didnt take me long to realize that multitabling was my problem all along

    Long story short....

I stopped multitabling and am focusing on playing the game.

    So far so good.

I am winning consistantly, have been on pokertableratings leaderboards all year so far, and am running pretty good.

I am only about 8K hands in, and am running at 55bb/100. I know 55bb/100 is insanely high and everyone will tell me im running hot, but it sure feels like I am going to be able to maintain a high winrate.

Will see where i sit mid Feb.

I'm gonna keep smashing 25NL for now.

As of the end of JAN I am a little higher than 55BB/100 after 9K hands.
I can pick out any 1000 hand stretch during this period and am still showing high winrates
I had a total of 2 4-6 buy in downswings that I recovered from very quickly.
I'm showing hi winrates in every position, including UTG and both blinds.

The holes/leaks I am going to focus on in FEB are:
    - I have noticed I have a tendancy to widen my range preflop just to get involved with maniacs. Its as if the money is so easy that I cant wait... I plan to work on this by waiting for better spots to take the $$.
    - I plan to stop cbetting without equity unless I am cbetting nits
    - I plan to continue working on ranging and making a few more turn/river calls. I think I am losing a lot of value folding marginal hands.

    Goals for FEB are:

    - maintain my winrate
    - I am currently # 6 on PTR leaderboard for 25NL, my goal is to remain in the top TEN through Feb.
    - play atleast 8K hands
    - stay at 25NL, single tabling

    FEB PLAN

so I ended January off with a 47BB/100 winrate and decided theres no reason not to give 50NL a shot.

so, 6 days in, I was carrying a winrate of 40BB/100 and feeling pretty good, until I had my first "TILT" session of the year.

so I have position on villain who keeps shving stupid hands, and I have AJs.

I raise, he re-raises and I overshove. He snap calls with T8o and hits his T. crap

usually, I think to myself "who cares" ... I made good play and he hit ,, no biggy,,, I will get him later...
but, like many fishy half stack players do.... he left the table right after this hand...

so ... about 5 hands later, I get involved with a decent player holding ATs.
2 spades come on the flop, I raise he calls
I miss the turn but bet anyway, he re-raises... and I pretty much knew he had a straight and that I needed to hit my club to win...
but... tiiiiiiilt away,,, I over shove him and he calls.

    jebus

    tilt sux.

I post this to remind myself to recognize tilt, slow down, back away, take a break.

    Good Play = profit
bad play = loss of money = stupid plays = tilt = more loss of $$

I lost 3 buy ins today after less than 100 hands. My goals is to collect myself and recoup 100% of this tonight and get back on track to smashing these fish.

Take a short break if needed to compose yourself to keep yourself playing your A game. Congrats on your success I'm sure more will follow, welcome back and good luck with your games!

" My goals is to collect myself and recoup 100% of this tonight and get back on track to smashing these fish. "

Goal achieved the following day, and then some

On a good note, I hit a spot that was worse than the one that tilted me earlier.

So im at a table full of terrible maniacs....

I am dealt KQo on the button, and the UTG maniac raises...

Action to me and I am just about to 3-bet when .... .... ..... "ESTABLISHING CONECTION"..........

I got disconnected just befor I clicked raise and got back just in time to see my hand folded....

I then got to watch 2 other maniacs shove all there money into a flop that would have given me the nut straight.

    ughhh

that brief few seconds in disconnect cost me 200bb

    Note to self....

running through some charts last night I realized that my redline (Non showdown winnings) took a drastic turn downwards about 2K hands ago.... need to stop that leak fast.

I ended up #7 on the PTR leaderboards for total winnings @ $25NL on party poker in Jan.
as of FEB 9th, and after my tilt I am still on the leaderboard at 50NL for the month of Feb @ #24

hopefully I can stay on or even climb up to top 10 again.

being on the leaderboards is quite a confidence booster.

    Redline update:

Its getting worse, not better. But I know what I am doing and am going to plug this leak starting today.

    In summary:
I am playing aggressively in bad spots...
I am playing passively in all other spots...

some things I am guilty of and will be focusing on:
Continuation betting in bad spots.Having a one-and-done approach to c-betting.
Calling too often with draws and playing them passively
Calling raises with weak made hands only to fold to further action.
Calling too many three-bets and folding too many flops.
Check-calling weak hands that are essentially two-pair draws.
Playing passively in three-bet pots as the aggressor.

Right out of an article and puts describes my problems perfectly.

Goal is to fix the redline leak, by playing more aggressive in better spots against the right players... in the right spots.

Bet and semi-bluff MORE with equity, check/call/fold LESS

    FEB update:

Well after a 4 day stretch of going absolutely no-where while trying to work on leaks (redline)... I Purged 3,000 break even hands and said the heck with it. Why try to fix something that isn't broken....

without that wasted ( and boring I might add ) stretch of 4 days... my attempt at 50NL in feb was a success and am moving up to 100NL as of yesterday.

So, 4 days and 2500 hands in to March, I heated it up fast and was up 10 BI in no time. Then the deck ran cold, the fish stayed home, and my 10 BI's were gone along with 4 extra in 3 days.... haha

anyway, after a week of cold cards and what seemed to be every other player on a heater :P..... I sat back and reviewed some hands

I was not plaing bad, I just ran into a very cold deck and that's pretty much it. one of those stretches where my cards, the flops and turn/river were seeming designed to get me to get my money in to pots that I was going to get beat on anyway....

another thing I reviewed is profit vs time at all levels 25/50/100.

last night, after another 3 hours of really cold cards, boredom, and realizing there are ALOT less fish and a lot less tables to choose from than 25nl, I said the heck with it and decided to go back to 25NL... cause after all... at 25NL I can get dealt cold cards and still beat that level...

anyways, like I said, 2500 hands and 16 or so buyins down... and super cold deck, I dropped to 25NL and was up 3 buy ins in 40 hands.

it is amazing how 30 days of 50Nl and a week or so of 100Nl will make a guy sure appreciate the 25NL tables and how fruitful they really are

    oh how I missed 25nl.
