    Default Jack's Gambling Manifesto

Only gambling content in this thread. I figure my Bar is better suited as a life-related kind of thing and hangout place, and in here all my gambling degeneration should be posted.

This place will be a hand-dump, thoughts basket, blackjack strategies and sportsbetting lines etc.

And of course, my Bar will remain open. Too many good stuff happening in real life that I'd like to share.

Let's see if I can at least post once a week in this thread. GOGOGOGO!!!

To start, here's great quote from someone I admire:

Earlier I used the term winners instead of good players because I think many winners are very exploitable. In some cases, even more exploitable than certain types of fish. This can get in depth and complicated but the main reason for this has to do with predictability. One analogy I like to use is with school. Everyone knows that there are plenty of people they were/are in school with that got very good grades but that they don't necessarily think were very smart. Those people worked hard, and essentially kew how to work the system. I see many regs in this way. They have "figured out" how to play but can't really think on their feet, don't play particularly creatively and revert to very predictable patterns when they are challenged or presented with plays they are not accustomed to seeing or expecting. I make a lot of mistakes when I play but I can make up for them by playing unpredictably, creatively and by understanding the rational foundation for how most people think about what they're doinrg.
Spelling issues aside, I have felt I've known this since forever. Its nice to see it written by someone else.

I've been struggling with confidence issues. It seems confidence is indeed wtf poker is about. I've known this, felt this, reasoned this, but have been unable to come up with a countermeasure.

For me it looks like this: beat this issue, beat the highest stakes imaginable. Its simple, really.

    tbc.

Missed vbet imo, but I just don't know how much villain might be trapping here. Villain was a weird combo of aggro callingstation at the beginning of the series of matches (when this hand occured)

I'd have to disagree betting on the 88 board. It would take lots of metagame knowledge (as in games played versus villain) on opponent to bet there, we having great showdown value and all.

Good luck with the new OP!

On the J55xJ board, I think checking back the river is fine. I'm
not sure we have 3 streets of value unless he's a big whale. You might be ahead a lot, but he's also folding a lot. I'd like a bet better if the flop had a FD that missed or something.

The A7 hand, the turn c/r is way over-repping and letting him off the hook with all his bluffs and he's almost always only continuing with better. Just c/c and let him keep bluffing the ace on the river.

    Tnx Griffey.

Yeah, I hated that A7 hand. I think I played it like that because I was under positive tilt.

I like this one though. This is the entire tourney. Villain is an unknown.
I would like to think that the way I was playing, timing etc. caused villain to go into suspicious mode. "He can't have it again!"
And no, its not about running hot.
