Sounds silly I'm sure but I wouldn't ask if I didn't need the help!
You really need to do this regularly. I refused to do it in any depth for a long time as I didn't really think it would help that much. I spent an entire Sunday doing this (about 6 hours) as Sunday is usually my poker break day.

Sort HEM or PT for an entire month with hands where you won or lost 7bb or greater. I went back 2 months so I wouldn't remember the hand as well. Also use hands that went to showdown to begin with so you can see how well you are doing with ranges.

Open Pokerstove to use for every hand and assign a range for villian for every street of every hand. At first you are really going to suck at this but you'll be surprised at how fast you get better at it.

Doing this was the turning point in moving up for me. Doing it regurlarly makes alot of difference. I've kinda slacked off recently due to time constraints but for a long time I did it before every session on hands from 2 days ago (so I might not remember the hand as well) and I included hands that didn't go to showdown. You will only have 15-25 hands to review before every session so it won't take to long.

I think Spenda made a video on how to do this but I can't remember if it's a FTR vid or a Grinderschool video.

GL and happy belated 50th. I've got 2 weeks before I hit the big 5-0.

On a side note: It looks like I may have some time to see if I could be a "professional grinder" as the government looks like it's going to shut down next week (I work for the gubmint). If this happens I may start an OP.

I like to review top winners and losers, but ignore any AAvskk pre or set over set type hands. I review hands Dow. To where I lost 20bb. I find tons of stupid shit I do in even 500 hand sample, when I no longer have glaring mistakes I'll start looking at sub 20bb pots.

Quick comment before I get my ass ready for work. I really feel my hard work is paying off and had it not been for my fuck up the other day I'd be willing to say I am pretty damn proud of myself lately. I still have so very very far to go but I'm getting there at my own pace. Fortunately my pace is picking up a little momentum do to putting in the time productively. I so appreciate all the feedback and advice you all bring forward. Time and time again I am amazed at your patients with this old man...LOL

    True dat for sure!

Today really was a good day for poker. I spent a lot of time watching videos and reading. I'd say my time was damn near 50% study 50% grind and it really paid off. Ez game if you go at it the right way!

I just thought I'd mention by the way that I stopped using Table Ninja about a month ago now. I was having so many problems with my bet sizing and I knew that by using TN I was not going to be able to work on the issue. I really like the fact that I have to engage much more now. Also since I've cut the volume emphasis out of my game I just don't need it. So it's in the back drawer of the tool box for now.

Robb thanks for stopping by my friend I am honored!

Work is picking up which is really good but takes away from the poker time. Like I should complain I've made about $600 this morning but for some reason I'd like to grind out a couple buyins! I am going to get some study time in here pretty quick. I just received the week three lesson plan from PokerZion so I'm stoked about that.

How is your new LAGG style working out??

I think I lose value by raising to often. When in position is it smart to just call when you are sure you are ahead and villain is betting in to you? I usually raise and get a fold. Should I be flatting a couple streets if the board is uncoordinated then raise on the river? I know this is a very general question and I'm sure it is dependent on the opponent one is up against but am I correct in thinking there are times this would be better than raising?

Yes there are definitely times to consider that. Its just finding those times which is key. I'd be lying to you if I said I knew when these times always were. It's always a work in progress. The guides in the short handed forum are pretty informative. I'm still learning the ways of 6m as you are

So I have $30 on Absolute Poker from a promo where they gave me money to play. I've fucked around with it over the last several months using it to experiment with different ideas etc and to play while buzzed on a rare occasion. I've had it as high as $250ish in the past but never gave a shit about it. Well it is now my entire bankroll as it is the only online moneys I can access. As of this writing I am able to log on and sit at cash tables. So my new goal is to grind this as much as possible and see what I can do until either Uncle Sam shuts it down or until I have enough to withdrawl. So here we go 2nl again!

i thought Absolute was a part of the crackdown and would thus be a no-go for US players?

rpm according to everything I've read they are but I can still play on their site. I don't have enough to with draw so I'm going to grind while I can and see what happens. I expect it won't last long but we'll see.

Fuck I haven't played a hand of poker online in almost a month. Went on a bitching vacation where I got to do a lot of riding in the desert, drinking top shelf alcohol and played some live poker.

I really want to get my head back into the game but I don't even know if I have a site to play on or not. Last time I played AP was still up and running but I haven't even looked at it since before the vacation. I'm going to make it a point to get online and check it out.

I miss the game and honestly I really miss the time I spent here on FTR as well. I cruised through the BC and didn't hardly recognize any of the names on the first page of threads. Has it really changed that much? What a shame if it has.

i think "lock poker" seems to be the best bet for US players. pretty generous effective rakeback with RB + bonus system.

i didn't think US residents could play on UB/AP anymore even if they wanted to? ps, harley, you don't want to. check out the online poker rooms forum where some US players have analysed the pros/cons of different sites available to US players.

Harley, like RPM recommended, check out Lock Poker on the merge network. Decent traffic, generous rakeback, soft games and it was really easy to deposit.
