Default +EV Decisions concerning poker, education, and healthyness

    Prologue:
This is my second operation/blog thingy. Its the start of a new year, so thought I'd start a fresh one. My first Op can be found here. In it I was mainly a bonuswhore and played SNGs/LHE/10nl to grind up a decent sized roll which I'll be moving to fulltilt very soon. This Op will be Exclusively NL 6max starting at 10NL and up...up...up so should be a much better account of my progress.
Tomorrow is the first day of Uni, So I'm going to attend and continue to attend throughout the year. i.e stop been a lazy wee shit.
Also... Tomorrow I'm going to go the gym, cause I'm chronically out of shape and wanna feel healthier... adding to the 'stop been a lazy wee shit' idea.

Short term Goals (next two weeks)
    1. Reformat computer tomorrow and have it running like a dream, start fresh HEM database, install Antivirus software/firewall etc.
    2. Go to every lecture/tutorial/lab for the next two weeks.
    3. Finish clearing partypoker bonus by playing LHE and move my roll to FT.
    4. Go to the gym 3x a week for next two weeks, also do two cardio sessions at home on exercycle. Plus don't eat shit.

    Medium-term Goals (3monthish)
    1. Play about 10k hands of 10nl 6max then take shot/s at 25nl.
    2. Re-watch grinderschool videos, DC videos, Get involved in discussion on FTR, read Mathematics of Holdem & Professional NLHE.
    3. Keep a good attendance at uni and do homework/study like a good wee boy.
    4. Keep training/lose weight/eat good... leading to not feeling like shit.

Long-term Goals (Till end of the year)
    1. Own 25nl then 50NL and up(but that is outside the scope of this operation).
    2. Get good grades for year.
    3. Lose weight/feel good/eat good shit

    Why?
I'm doing this to keep track of my own progress, motivate myself and hopefully others.

    How?
I'll update approximately three times a week talking about how everything is going. I'll also aim for at least 5HHs posted per week and try to get involved alot in BC and SH forums.

I'll keep ya's posted and lets hope everything goes as planned!

    Cheers guys

    Cheers for the comments boys,

Got computer reformated and everything running perfect. This thing is secure as a military installation. Have attended all classes so far, went to gym yesterday. Sorta woke up with a cold today which sucked so didn't go today.

Waiting on withdrawal from partypoker, so within hours I'll be at the 10nl 6max tables on fulltilt to start this op off properly.

Professional NLHE & Mathematics of poker arrived today, so had a quick wee skim of both. Looks like they're going to be great reads. The math one looks pretty involved...but thats a good thing right?!

Haven't updated in a while, so this is going to be a big post.
    But a good one.

Have attended all classes for uni. Got a Essay due on Friday which is half finished, and also got a website to make so got abit of work to do.
Done about 3 cardio sessions last week, and same this week so far. Hope to do more, but my knee doesn't seem to like it to much if I go to overboard. Eating good food, feel good.

    Now... Poker!

Heres my graph at 10nl since I moved to Fulltilt:

Been running pretty good over last two days, I.e I'm actually above my EV, not by getting in bad, just situations such as holding Overpairs vs Pair + FDs and the like. I.e races.
Going to play another 5k at 10nl before having a look at what the go at 25nl is.

Here are my stats so far:

Anyone spot some big leaks? I don't really defend my blinds at all at the moment, and that is a thing I'm going to be working on over the next few thousdand hands, before moving up. I'm still playing pretty tight, well I suppose you'll see above...

I'm going to post some interesting spots I've gotten into where I need abit of help, theres quite a few so may take me abit to post them.

Been reading PNLHE, and I've started utilizing alot more pot control with somewhat marginal hands, rather then just leading as I was in the past. I'm going to be working on selective pot control over the next few thousand hands.

Villain 8/5/2.0 goes to showdown 14% and limpcalls 100 over a sample of 87hands.
so small pps in his utg limping range, but were never against a set with this postflop action. So can never be in bad shape.

    Very awkward spot.

    6) versus 19/17/1.8 played 335hands with this guy. He is a thinking player, well a thinking player for 10nl. I've been in quite a few hands with him, he usually bets his hands. I choose to pot control turn, thoughts?

    looked at your stats.
I play FR not 6-max and i'm a nit, but i think my comments may still be relevant. I recommend posting your stats in the SHNL forum once you've played 10k hands - you;ll get more and better feedback that way.

you could steal more from co and button - possibly a little less from sb.
You seem to put money in from the small blind too often.
    EP looks good.
What hands are you calling with from the bb? this may or may not be a leak.

hand 1: he's uber-nit, 8-5 means his pre-flop range is tight - would he ever be limp-calling AhJh here? or open-limping AhKh/AhQh? This looks loads like a set, i think a fold is fine

hand 2: pre-flop good. Flop good. Turn is a horror card, nice check behind. River calling is fine, folding probably better. I would often call here even with 4 to a flush on the board - that bet is SO small.

hand 3: wow, vpip 100.... preflop good. Flop fine, and now you have two pair. Sure, his 57 may have got there, but his range is huge and i'm happy to play this situation for stacks. The question then is how best to do this. I like turn bet $4 or check shove

hand 4: check river behind. I don't see much you beat calling here, and i don't think he's folding any queens/jj to a bet

hand 5: pre-flop good. Flop good if you now fold. It's unlikely that they both have flush draws....

hand 6: perfect turn to fire another barrel. As played, yuck.

hand 7: either check turn behind or bet more. I call.

hand 9: bet flop. as played give up.

hand 10: that's a crazy bet size, i call and re-assess on turn.

hand 11: get it in on the flop.

This is the plan mate, got about another 2k hands left. Don't know if I'm going to move up then or not...

You really reckon where against a set here? like he flat called after a donker and caller. Woudn't most people raise a set here? Theres a FD out there with 4 people seeing the flop.
Or he is he expecting me to raise 100% been the preflop raiser, then he can reraise me.
I think this is more flush draw/combo draw than a set.
Would you call a set in his position?

Yer, their both so passive Postflop.
Is this like a fold 100%

Picking which cards to two barrel is something I need to work on,
Why would this be a good card to two barrel?
Is it cause he could be calling one street with like 88-10s and now have more overs to be afraid of? Or we could get value from a king that still doesnt believe us. Or both?
If you two barrel here, the caller will generally check to you on the river unless they have the goods.
Would we ever check through the turn to entice a bluff from the vil on river? or is that to FPS?

If we're betting this flop aren't we only making better hands call...
But If he doesn't have an ace hes folding a high %.
Would we still bet if we had kk? or is that a different situation. due to him not having overcards to KK compared with JJ.

I shoved over cause I'm an idiot, he had JJ

Thanks for the response daven, Made me self-assess alot of the situations. Which I haven't done in a while.
Which is probably why I feel like I'm turning into a station.

    As a sidenote,..
still doing like 3-5gym sessions a week. Eating generally healthy as well.

Universitys going good also, missed one lecture so far but thats okay considering past attendance.

Currently working on a website for a friends business as a sort of Homework project as you could call it so thats taking up quite abit of my spare time.
After that is completed my sparetime will be focused alot on getting some hours in and working on my poker playing.

Got BR over 1k today which is a milestone for me, as I haven't had that much on one site before. But it was short lived, when my set got backdoor gutshoted for 200bb... which then led to me tilting off JJ pf against a frkn obvious AA.

But I closed down tables next orbit... I will hopefully get back over the 4figure mark tomorrow

I'm pretty sure I just found a super duper leak,

Ive seen the flop with AKo-AKs 49times and am down -260BB from it.
I'm think I'm having alot of trouble distinguishing the right boards to CB where I've missed and just giving up. Espcially in 3bet situations and OOP.

I'll make a post in BC tomorrow with some examples asking for advice.

Interestingly I'm doing alot better with AQo-AQs so maybe my sample size is to small. But I still feel I should get some input on the matter.

edit: the bigger leak thats concerning me is what daven already pointed out, my VPIP and steal from SB. I've lost another 300BB from SB since the stats post above.
I'm going to chill out in the SB as I'm getting fkn pwned from there.

yer, not with poker though. I started playing pretty horribly I think. Been looking alot into LHE, cause I played quite a bit when I was whoring it up. lol that sounds funny.
Anyhow I'm going to start playing some today. Been studying it up for the past week.

You got out of your downswing/breakeven patch?

Summerschool went alright, first semester started on monday.
I'm going to pick up where I left, and stuff Limit. I'll be back at 10nl 6max within the week
