sick induce! very nice... pretty thin VB in the first place though lol.. does he call worse ever?

If you're willing to call a shove here, I think I like a smaller bet around 110-120ish in terms of both thin value and inducing.

I kind of disagree about the bet sizing, i think 144 lets him induce very well since he has 536 remaining. 110 i think is too small, but if he had like 400 i would do it 110, imo...

Also made a vid today, it felt good. I'm not sure I'll make it public yet, but im gaining more experience slowly and i think eventually ill make one worthy to be displayed in public.

Geni - Rav owned my soul a little, i was being pretty aggro, he thought i was monkey tilting, but meh.. i think i played okay, but he doesnt fold so wtv We'll play longer next time

haha yesss ok for real like we should actually set a time and actually do this on inter. I'm sure alex could even call platinum club and get them to reserve him a couple tables and maybe even have them block a 6th person!

    he ownssss them

oh and having a short-stacker would definitely add an interesting dynamic.

Lucky - River would be an easy call vs this guy, which is a total insult to the way he plays lol

I just realized it's almost been a year since I started this thread, and I lol'ed at reading the first page of this thread, seeing how much I have improved since then. I'll probably do a recap of this year sometime in December, with new goals for the next year.

As for this month, I'm around breakeven, had some huge swings though but not playing that much either to even out the variance. I'm not that motivated tbh, just can't wait to leave on my Carribean cruise on Nov 15th and have some fun.

hey guys, long time no updates!!

CPC cruise was a freakin blast, but was very tiring at the same time cuz of so much partying. The boat stopped at 3 islands in the Caribbean, but St-Maarten was my favorite by far, i dont think ive ever seen such clean blue-greenish water ever, not even comparable to Cuba or the dominican... i hope one day ill be baller enough to have a summer house in this true paradise.

As for poker, November has been shit, sort of. I was up like 15k before CPC, but didnt feel like playing at all when i returned, so had to play high stakes to get motivated, and i obv dropped like 15k at 10/20+ to finish breakeven for the month.

I also decided I'm no longer playing below 5/10. I feel like im so much better than the average 5/10 players that there is no point for me to ever play lower again. Today was good as I won about 13k playing mostly 10/20. I think I can start pulling 100k months from now on if I just keep playing fewer tables and table selecting 5/10-25/50 on a cpl different sites.

I still havnt had any request for coaching, lol. I mean at this point I have realized it's rly rly not worth it for the money, since my hourly is >3x more, but i would still love to have like a protege, i think it would be challenging and rewarding at the same time.

    peace

Maybe its the sites you play? Nobody really hears about the people crushing the euro sites but if someone has a big month on stars or tilt its usually all over 2+2. Just a guess though since your obviously a solid winner.

Do you offer your coaching services in french?

That is exactly your problem. You are now what i call money numb. When playing two different levels of poker at the same time, you will always become money numb with the lower ones. Because your brain has already registered the swings of the hi limits and you have bipassed it so that it doesn't effect your play. So no matter how much you lose at the smaller limits, it will always register as small to your brain, when really, it's a guy like me's dream bankroll. My reccomendation is that you only play one limit at a time, or another good way i have found is using multiple monitors with multiple levels, because it's something about the way your brain processes information, and what we as poker players do to overcome the urge to tilt and steam that causes it. If you don't agree just play a 1-2 game at the same time as a 50-100 game and look at your stats, and i guarantee your seen flops turn and river percentages will always be up by almost double on the percentages. check it out. Gl and i hope you heed my advice so that you don't keep losing large sums of money. remember, one mans trash can be another mans treasure, so next time you are in the mood to lose a grand just come donate it to me. I already told alex this, but I think river raise is thin. Not because we're not ahead here a lot, but because the hands we're ahead of are often b/f here I believe.

As soon as I saw this I was like.. "godddd QJ ownage.... is it too nitty to flat a boat on this river?"..... I would feel dirty doing it, but I think given stacks it might be right.

does your "uh, lol" mean LDO obviously flat here this deep, or does it mean "are you on drugs, flatting here?"

You think a flush is b/c here?

oh and merry xmas zook and kmizzle! hopefully we're all ready for some 2009 ownage.

The latter. I think there's easy value from nut flushes and 66 ldo and possibly worse depending on villain. Can't miss out on value with the 2nd nuts just b/c you're 200bb deep.

I tried convincing myself he can have 666/nut flush on river but I think we have to heavily discount those because of flop action. I'm like 80% sure people would c/r those on flop this deep and try to build a pot?

Also, villain hasn't seen me at 25/50 often so he probably thinks I'm more passive/nitty than usual?

    I think it's close...

I agree that 66 c/r's this flop a lot but I disagree that a flopped nut flush would very often.

I agree that the nut flush will sometimes slowplay. But should hero ever shove the river with the K or Q high flush? If not, then I think the nut flush should be b/f here on the river anyhow.
  53. #278
You can get to this river with a pretty wide range yet you're saying that villain can only call your river shove with the top two hands in his range, both of which are relatively unlikely. Seems like villain needs to gave a wider calling range than boats to avoid serious exploitation.

Man I've been so lazy with updating this thing. I think I'll do some mini-operations in the future, with specific goals, so I'll be more motivated to update them since they can actually be completed. This one is pretty pointless since I never post anyways :P

Anyways, yesterday was a gooood day, played the highest stakes I've ever played . Played some 25/50 pounds (7knl) and 40/80 pounds (11knl) which is kinda surreal for me since I've always been such a bankroll nit. Played pretty aggro and then I won this hand vs the fish.

    CO ($11268.00)
    BTN ($5885.00)
    Hero (SB) ($9121.00)
    BB ($5710.00)

    Pre-flop: ($120, 4 players) Hero is SB
1 fold, BTN raises to $240, Hero calls $200, BB raises to $999, BTN calls $759, Hero raises to $9,121, BB calls $4,711, BTN folds

    Flop: ($15,830, 2 players)

    Turn: ($15,830, 2 players)

    River: ($15,830, 2 players)

    Final Pot: $15,830
    BB shows:
    Hero shows:

    Hero wins $15,828 ( won +$6,707 )
    BB lost -$5,710
    BTN lost -$999

Thats a $22k pot with a pair of nines, which is probably the biggest pot I've played. I noticed fish (BB) loves to squeeze, and the reg (BTN) loves to call 3bets IP, so decided a pair of nines was good enough to shipit. Good thing I was right or I'd be tilting pretty bad right now. Obviously I had to sell action for this high stakes games and somehow I ended up only having 40% of myself since a bunch of degens wanted to stake me for some reason. I ended up shipping them 9k of the profits which I don't mind since I wouldn't have played it with 100% of myself. I feel like this staking thing never works out right usually, the only person that made me money is Andy_akb with some pro shortstacking. Go figure:P.

Here's another random hand from my sesh. I'm pretty sure this is the optimal line vs a reg since I'm playing higher than usual I don't think a 4bet pre is optimal.

Oh my god, I also have to mention that the gym propbet I have with Griffey is a TOTAL FAIL. We each went like 2-3 times total within 3 weeks. I think I'd be more motivated to go if it wasn't for this bet. So so lame.

lmao... yaaah we need to refine the conditions of this bet imo... hmmm the fact that we can both go zero in a week and cancel each other out is mega fail.

I guarantee if i have been going this week though, you'd be going. So really.. you need me to kick your ass into gear!

1)This hand is against Ravageur. The only history we have is that he sucks out on me a lot in every possible way, other than that, we're not monkeying against each other too much this session.

He checks flops more than most, but I'd expect him to cbet most pairs here especially TT+, 9x, and FD's. On the river, I basically assume he has Ace high most of the time, and im pretty sure he knows i know he's weak, so I decide to go for the soul-own. What the fuck does he have and can I fold the nuts?

    Hero (BB) ($500.00)

    Pre-flop: ($7, 6 players) Hero is BB
    1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $17, 3 folds, Hero calls $12

    Flop: ($36, 2 players)
    Hero checks, UTG+1 checks

    Hero bets $30, UTG+1 calls $30

    River: ($96, 2 players)
    Hero bets $165, UTG+1 raises to $1,044.40, $288 to Hero ($288)?

    2) Funny hand from last week. Villain is loose UTG, but very nitty postflop. He loves to check-call QQ on turns after cbetting KJxhh flops and turn is Qh, and c/c rivers, kinda stuff. He also doesn't cbet that much, especially this deep I'm pretty sure he takes pot control lines OOP. Are these kinda reads enough to justify b/folding this boat? zomg boat!!

I d say Rav has 4's full or aces in hand 1 like 100% of the time so I'd fold. Haven't talked to him bout it yet but I think he's never ever bluffing you here.

Hand 2 is so disgusting I don't wanna talk or think about it. In fact I might not come back to this thread until it hits 7 pages.

I won't comment on my hand, but hand 2 whoa. I just have a tiny bit of advice:

I seriously think I get on my feet so that when i call and lose I can run away from the computer as fast as I can so that I save myself the 10 buyins on my other tables that I would spew off immediately after instadeath-tiling from that hand.

Hand 2 is interesting. My first thought was no way I'd fold, but the more I look at it and take into account your reads, the more I think its a fold. It doesnt sound like he's bad enough to value town himself with a flush/straight/trips, or that he's sick enough to turn whatever his hand is into a bluff here. Unfortunately that leaves him with 33 as the only hand he might do this with that we beat.
Just dipping my toes back in.

Pretty epic day yesterday, I started playing 10minutes after I wake up, and insta started the day down -9k within 20minutes of play!!! I then blamed this doomswitch on the fact I skipped breakfast, so I went to make some coffee in hopes of recovery. 2k hands later, I somehow managed to almost breakeven. Despite the graph, I can't say I ran that bad since some high variance bluffs/thin shoves went my way.

Not been playing that many hands recently, I just feel like grinding champions league soccer games, hockey, or Sopranos series instead. Although I'm still on pace for my yearly goal in poker.

    Cheers,

    -Alex

Hey guys, I'm gonna revive this thread for at least a bit. Been on a mini downswing lately and what usually happens is I stop playing poker for a while. Butttt, I wanna get in 30k more hands until the end of the month so I'll start a small operating and update DAILY! Maybe put in some hands too.

BTW it's all gonna be at 2/4

    Here we gogogoo!!!
