ffs use ptbb not bb when expressing your win rate it's so tilting when ppl use bb I cannot describe in words how big of a poser you are if you refuse to use ptbb.

    5.765ptBB/100 lol....

I honestly don't care what people think about that bullshit. All that matters is if I play well and make money. I have HEM and that is how it is displayed. Also the game is now NL, where winrates should be expressed in big blinds, not big bets like the limit old days.

    I'm running 187oBB/100

The ratio of oskar BB to ptbb will not be disclosed publicly.

This game is sooooo cruel sometimes.

I won't bore you with multiple bad beat stories 200bb deep.

~3buy-ins under AIEV and catching a few coolers is not good when moving up.

    My 100NL Graph so far...

Can anyone say ew? I spewed off 2 buyins in spew. Had some very big coolers, yet somehow I'm still up a couple buy-ins. Go figure, because it sure as hell feels like I've been getting recked. Also, I need some work on that red-line for sure. I'm down about a buy-in since my last post.

Anyways, I'm down like a buy-in since my last post. I still don't feel 100% comfortable at 100NL. IDK why, but I think I will get there eventually. If I start getting frustrated, I need to remember 50NL is just below. I have trouble moving back down sometimes, but 50NL is a great place to work on my game.

just keep grinding it out man.

I have a 20k stretch at 50nl where I'm -2ptbb and my overall win rate was >3ptbb. sometime you just run super shit and its hard to play well when you do but you just have to keep your head up and try to make every decision count.

Visited my GF for the weekend last weekend, had an awesome time. Going to visit family this weekend. So the volume has been down some.

I'm running about 11bb/100 at 50NL this month over 18K, and 3.5bb/100 at 100NL over 8.5K (small sample), but after my good first day at 100NL nothing special has happened. Just basically breakeven.

I'm going to turn it around though. I'm going to get my head on straight and profitable grind up 50NL again.

8 buyins is sick in so few hands. I recommend you find fish and offer them HU4rollz, then take their rollz when they accept.

    EXCUSE ME?!

I don't have enough fingers to count the times I've swung 10BI+ in one session. Why don't you put on a dress and prance around for us while you tell us about your 8BI swings.

Okay, so I'm 250bb deep vs 88/3 rungod who is 500+bb deep and all of a sudden, the table closes.

    Sucks.

But still a good day nonetheless and second time playing 200NL (bum hunting of course)

I like the idea of grinding 50NL and if there are any really soft tables at 100NL playing those for now, until I am up near $5k bankroll.

    ~1700 hands

    -1/2 buyin @ 50NL
    +1 buyin @ 100NL
    +1.5 buyins @ 200NL

Fun hands from the day, biggest 2 pots, and a BAD BEAT JACKPOT hand.

I'm up like $400 after rakeback and about $100 at the tables.

Ultra important. Something I'm still working on.
  28. #103
Also, I've decided to play my A game, I need to take myself away from my results because my play relies far too much on how I am doing, and many of my good sessions are cut short because I am "satisfied" but the amount of money I've won. Or chasing losses.

So I will not be looking at my results for 2 days at a time, which is far less than a few times a session ^_^

    The month of July!

Today is my last day playing for the month. Getting to spend some quality time with the girlfriend for the weekend tomorrow. A month of swings. My first real month at mainly 100NL. 100NL actually went somewhat well. It was 50NL that gave me some fits (along with 200NL). I had a few very tilty sessions that cost me probably a total of 5-6 buyins at 100NL and a buyin at 200NL. But I feel that I've been playing better as of late with more control. Also a nice little upswing the last two days.

    100NL 41K hands +$1152
    50NL 11K hands -$204 (-400ish at FR)
    200NL 1500 hands -$396

    +$573 - Table profit
    +~$660 - Rakeback
    +$200 - staking
    -$50 MTT

    July: +$1383

    Here's to a better August!

    --------------

So I got a prop bet with the almighty Carroters, who is a lazy bum.

    For $100:

I have to play a total of 50,000 hands of 100NL+
Carroters has to play a total of 32,000 hands of 100NL+

(I get about 600hands/hr, he gets about 400).

If we both achieve this, no money changes hands. If one goes over and one under, the one over gets the $100. If neither of us achieves this, we each ship Dranger $0.50.

Also we can are exempt from the bet if either of us is -10 buyins at a certain time for the month, or if something family related prevents us.

And Carroters, lets count 100PL+ onto our hands plox.
  34. #109
    Qualified Hands Played:

    Aug 1: 2328
    Aug 2: 1342
    Aug 3: 1973
    Total: 5643 ---- Pace: 4838

Going to try and get a nice little cushion for when I take days off later in the month.

Also I should get 16,000+ VPPs which will put me in good shape for my SN run. At about 44,000 right now.

So, poker is a crazy game. 200NL is very swongy with more poker going on than 100NL imo. It is still very beatable, just less fish than 100NL and some of the regs are more solid....o_O wut?

Anyways, I've got just over 12,000 hands in for the month. About 1/5th of the way to my prop bet with Carroters of 50,000 hands at 100NL or higher. 4439VPP's so far too this month. I would really like to get 20,000VPPs this month to put me at 62,000VPPs for the year, and in relatively easy position to get Supernova. 46% rakeback > 28% FER SHO.

Yeah man, doing MEH there, but working on it! What happened? Get back in the game for a few hours a week if possible IMO.

Got 17,000 hands so far this month 6400 VPPs, ahead of pace for 50K hands and 20KVPPs

Right now I have about $4,500 of cash and cash equivalents (not counting poker $$$ because I plan to not withdraw for the rest of the year). Including my necessities like food, gas, and car insurance, I figure I will need about $200 a week, or $800 a month to get by. So with no job, that $4,500 would last me about five months. So that means, I give myself two months to get myself a real job (or become a reg at $200NL, low expectations on that in that amount of time). If I cannot find a decent job, I will go back to working at the grocery store until that happens (worst case scenario).
Wow, I made this post end of April, never would have thought I'd be a 100NL reg making a move towards 200NL at the beginning of August.

Been doing some reading, and I really need to think more if I want to beat 200NL. I need to work on reaching higher levels of thinking. I do so little thinking while playing that it is actually embarrassing, which says a lot about the amount of skill and knowledge it takes to beat 100NL. If you learn the basics of poker, you do not need to be a very good player to beat 100NL (me).

Still running like absolute ass at 200NL. No use in posting examples here.

this is both depressing and inspiring (for a 10nler drooler) at the same time. far more inspiring than depressing though. i've been watching this blog unfold from the shadows for a while now. going on how quickly you've progressed through the limits so far, i'm sure you'll adapt to the play at 200nl quite promptly if you put the effort in. good luck man. see you at the tables in 4 years.

As anyone who's followed my roller coaster the past couple of years knows, there's a point at which you can think TOO MUCH about poker at the table. It's ez game, honestly. I always felt like I did too much fancy thinking at the table and not enough straight forward analysis and thinking away from the table in session/HH review.

On the other hand, however, we do need to think SOME at the tables. Not saying we don't. Just don't be embarrassed by "not thinking," especially not if you're beating 100nl consistently. You're obviously doing something quite right.

I'm sorry to jack your thread - I'll probably post something in the BC. Just been thinking about this 18-year-old kid, son of a family friend, who lost $2,000 playing poker, got addicted. Might be more - a lot more losses. Addicts aren't known for honesty. He read and studied poker but lost control.

Critical thinking is a tool we use to work our way through a problem we don't yet understand. When we do understand a problem we usually work through it by instinct. If you're crushing 100nl it's probably because you understand villain tendencies at that stake so well that you're instinctually thinking at whatever level is needed to beat it. If you're struggling ay 200nl, it's probably because you don't yet understand villains tendencies.

What I'm really saying is that you're already thinking at those higher levels, you just don't know it.

Not slipping that hard, just was hot at beginning and thought I could just print monies at 200NL. Never said I was "slipping hard" you tard. ^_^

What I'm really saying is that you're already thinking at those higher levels, you just don't know it.
This is a good point. I think my problem is, that I play like 5-6 tables of 200NL while playing some 100NL (for 12 total) and I find myself in spots vs villians that I am not very familiar with and takes more thinking than I am allowing myself. So when I do try and move up again, I will play 6 tables and take some good notes.

    Thank you for that!

    BRoll Update:
    $250 - 3/8/10
    $485 - 3/23/10
    $557 - 4/14/10
    $692 - 4/20/10
    $1293 - 5/8/10
    $1643 - 5/22/10
    $2243 - 6/1/10
    $2736 - 6/7/10
    $3825 - 6/22/10
    $5500 - 7/28/10

Unfortunetly, withdrawals coming soon due to part time job, not cutting it for my expenses, so I will stop my bankroll updates here. Just some motivation for the lower stake guys that it is possible to run a small bankroll up to being rolled for 100NL fairly quickly. Took me about 3 months to go from 10NL to taking shots at 100NL. I will post a graph for this period later today. And also show that negative red lines don't mean squat. If you can value bet the shit out of people, then do it and win money.

This has been the swingiest month $$$ wise of my poker career. Took some 200NL shots which started well and ended very poorly due to some spewing and tilting and a few set < sets for stacks. I've decided to take a break from 200NL until I build up a $10,000 bankroll on stars because I don't feel that I can play A game poker, while coping with the standard 5 buyin swings at those stakes.

So here is to 100K more hands at 100NL with some occasional bumhunting at 200NL.

    10NL

    25NL

    50NL

    100NL

    200NL+

    About +$1,000 for the month.

Had the #1 pick in my draft. It's a PPR league, I'm pretty happy with how it went. I need to pick up a backup QB though, cuz I'd rather not have Flacco vs the Jets in week 1.

I went for McCoy when I did because he will definitely start with the young QB and will be involved in the pass game for PPRs!

    Chris Johnson
    Greg Jennings
    LeSean McCoy
    Joe Flacco
    Jason Witten
    Malcolm Floyd
    Hakeem Nicks
    Darren Sproles
    Jacoby Jones
    Donald Brown
    Mike Williams
    Cincinnati
    Javon Ringer
    David Buehler
    Jabar Gaffney

Oh hi there. Still grinding. After my fast start, I've cooled down a lot.

Found a job though so I will not be living off of poker anymore (thank god). Thats not the life for me, I like to play for some side income and enjoy the game, not because I have to so I can pay the bills.

Job is going well. Getting trained at "school" this week for everything. As far as poker goes. A couple times I've woken up an hour early and grinded for an hour. I'm often pretty sharp for so early in the morning and may continue to do that here and there. Also I figure if I can get two 60-90 minute sessions done in the afternoon after work, I can continue on my road to getting Supernova by early November.

I've been playing mainly 200NL 20-50bb for the time being in the afternoons. And when I wake up in the morning I just display all tables at 100-200 including 20-50 and 40-100 just because there are so few people on during this time and there aren't 12 tables at a given stake for me to play.

I still have to play about 10 hours in the next 3 days to complete the BC prop bet. But that shouldn't be a problem and it will be the last time I prop on volume!

Results oriented thread coming at the end of the month!

CBAT just read through the last page of your blog. Will be stopping in. Looking forward to watching you continue your progress!

    +550 in FPPs
    -100 in prop w/ yaawn
    +668 table $$'s
    +100 in stellar rewards

    +$1158

About almost 4 buyins at 200NL over 19k hands
About breakeven at 100NL over 14k hands

MEH, hopefully I can for once have a very good month.
  68. #143
This month I am going to focus on 200NL. I'll be mixing 40-100bb and 20-50bb depending on the softness of the games. My goal is 50 hours played this month which should get me about 30,000 hands and 14k VPP. More than that would be cool too, but I am working 40 hours a week and doing some traveling some of the weekends.

My original goal was to get Supernova by the beginning of November and the Supernova tournament, but I need about 25k more VPPs to get there and that doesn't seem plausible with my current schedule. So now my goal is to just get there by mid-late November so I can rack up some FPPs at the end of the year and buy the $1k bonus, and use concierge for some purchases around the holiday season.

    - Attack weakness, not strength
    - Make rational decisions/play solid
    - Don't chase

    Profit.

Grr...Over slept, so no grinding this morning.
  72. #147

    Mostly 1/2 and some 2/4

    +$2800
    +800 in rakeback

    = +$3600

    14.5k VPPs...11.5K until Supernova!

Going to do the same kind of thing this month at 1/2 and 2/4 and keep growing that roll! Work has been going decently and it covers my bills, so I have no need to cash out, so I will try to keep increasing my bankroll at 1/2 and some 2/4.

    niceeee

Haven't updated in a while. I've been playing 1/2 - 3/6. Unfortunately I am only getting in about 1k hands per day because of laziness/40 hour a week work schedule. I'm about 2.5k VPPs from Supernova, so that will be a fun little $1,000 bonus when I get there.

Nothing crazy to report. I need to make sure I'm playing my A game at all times at these higher stakes because the grinders at 2/4 and 3/6 are more solid than .5/1 and 1/2 and I can't get away with some of my bullshit because they see right through it. I still feel that I can win at a decent clip at these stakes and will continue to play.

    GL all
