    freezout = no rebuy
    freeroll = no buyin (usually a new player or number of raked hands requirement)

    As I understand it, freezeout means that only 1 person gets paid, and that person gets the entire prize pool.
    I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

    "Freeze-out" is simply the format of the tournament, not the type of game being played. "Hold'em" and "Texas Hold'em" are identical. In a freeze-out tournament, no rebuys or add-ons are allowed. Each player is only allowed the initial buy-in and once his starting chips are gone, he is eliminated.

    Also when a casino has a Hold'Em Tournament $1600 Freeroll - What is the Freeroll mean?
    A "freeroll" is a tournament which is free to enter -- the buy-in is $0. The "$1600" means $1600 in total cash prizes is guaranteed to the winners. Freerolls are typically limited to a certain number of entries.

    "Freeze-out" and "freeroll" do not apply to ring games (cash games).

    This is incorrect. I've only heard this format referred to as "winner-take-all," not "freeze-out."

    Freeze-Out Tournament
    A tournament in which players start with a specified amount and then can buy no further chips; once they lose their chips, they are out, as opposed to a re-buy tournament. The tournament continues until one player has all the chips. As players are eliminated, they may receive prizes based on the order of their elimination. For example, the final remaining player may win 50% of the prize pool, the next-to-last 25%, the third 10%, and so on. Also called no- rebuy tournament. Compare with shootout tournament.

    Default Each establishment can make it’s own rules….

    Also note that if you play at a casino, each casino has it's own rules. So Freeze out means there are no rebuys, it can also be a winner take all game. Well I know of one casino that called the game a freeze out, but had a winner take all payout. However, the last two players agreed split the pot which was allowed by the casino. So we shared first place….

    I've heard the term "shoot out" when in reference to one person taking all the cash.
    The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes
