    Default Trying to use Pokerstove.

Is there a way to use pokerstove so that it tells you what your minimum hand requirements are to have a +EV situation? I downloaded it but I'm still figuring it out.

There were some questions posted here a week ago where we had the range of our opponent and we needed to use pokerstove to see what our minimum calling requirements were for an all in situation.
Does Pokerstove actually spit that info out? or do you have to run a few scenarios to come up with the right starting hands yourself?

Is there a nice post here or on a webpage showing how to use pokerstove efficiently? If you can provide a link that would be appreciated

I don't think there's a way to have Stove spit out your needed hand for positive equity. It's a trail and error thing, but not too bad.

As far as Stove goes, it's not much good during a live game unless you already have a good read on the villan. Normally, I replay questionable hands in HEM, where I can expand my analysis and really study what happened in the hand.

Here are some of the questions I ask:
    1) Have showdowns confirmed my ranges?
    2) Can I define 3bet/shove ranges?
    3) What does he call down with? This is important when sizing your value bets to get worse hands to call.

Remember, EVERY hand where you see your opponents cards has incredible value. These are the only times where our analysis can rule out quite a few variables. It's also helpful to look at the last few hands leading up, so you can get an idea of his mindset. Is he on a heater and willing to be more aggressive? On tilt?

On a final note, stove cannot help you with immediate player actions. For example, stove can tell you have have 60% equity against a villans range when you hold AA. BUT, you have knowledge of your villans betting patterns that lead you know your hand is beat. For instance, you have a read that he only 3 bets with two pair or better. You have AA on a KQ9 rainbow. You bet 3/4 pot and get raised. Based on your read, you know you're beat here even though you're ahead of his range in stove.
