    Default Too Agressive???

Asking for a little help from the community.

It has been great finding this website, with the wealth of knowledge available.

I have found that I usually can make it through to late play in most tournaments. I have been working hard on push/fold part of my game.

I play tight and very aggressive, and I know I loosen up late in the tournaments. I play low limits $1 to $4 MTT tournaments.

When I get down to 10-15 big blinds, I have been applying the push/fold method so that I dont become a real short stack, but I keep getting called by lesser hands, and then getting outran. So it makes me think, maybe I dont have the table image I think I do. Or maybe because I am not desperate, I should just play the standard 3 bet and cbet and see where I am at from there. I am not afraid to play post flop. The problem is that if I miss or I am dominated I am out 6-7 BB at that point. I dont push with nothing, always late position with something. Example push with KK get called by QJ off, and they get runner runner for straight. AJ vs A3 hit 3 on river. QQ vs AJ hits A on the river. Runner runner hit flush. You get the idea.

So maybe I am applying this strategy to early? I also will mention that on all these hands I was called by bigger stacks and knocked out. On all these hands I could have 3 bet and the pushed to get them off thier hands? Maybe a better strategy? Maybe they fold missing the flop?

I am just trying to figuire it out!

    Thank you,

    Allen(portlandford)

Just in general my friend if you get it in good and then get outdrawn oh well you got it in good. That part you cannot control this is where the poker gods come in.
To be a little more detailed spend some time reading through this: http://www.flopturnriver.com/pokerfo...st-123009.html

calls light with a big stack to shoves deep in mtt

Really dude, if you're getting your money in as favourite then you have nothing to change. Too aggressive? I don't think so. At this stage of mtts, stealing the blinds is necessary, especially if you're short. One steal is enough to see nine more hands. I'm looking fo the best hand I'm likely to see that round, and putting my stack in. Naturally I want KK or AA, but I'm not going to wait for them. Last night I bust out deep in a mtt with K7s, ran into QQ trying to steal to stay alive. If people are calling with QJ then take it as confirmation that shoving your hand was the correct move.

Worrying about if you got it in good is irrelevant.

What you should be worrying about is if your shove vs his range in that spot was +EV or -EV.

See posts in the MTT Digest/Community to determine how to do this.

how would you even consider his range for +-EV if its shove preflop to steal blinds

Decide what you think he'll call with then shove or fold accordingly. Same as always.

Your stack is relevant not only to the blinds but also to your opponents stack and therefore effects your Fold Equity.
Losing your stack is just part of playing Push/Fold, plain and simple.

This and similar concerns come up repeatedly. And many times, they have a couple of common themes. One is that people expect to win all the time in situations where they're solid favorites but far from locks - like two overs, often big aces, vs two unders, which is about a 2:1 situation.

Another is that people think they lose more often than they actually do because the losses are larger and more memorable. Shoving something like AQ or KQ and picking up the blinds is highly forgettable, while getting drawn out on by something like a medium suited connector is far more likely to stick in your head for a while.
