Default Over Betting with Big Slick

I've had recent sucess overbetting with AKs or o recently pre-flop with much sucess. like instead of betting 3x to 5x big blinds i bet 6x to 10x big blinds. Most people at my table find this as a sketchy move and put me on AA or KK ( I play live games ) or when they call after thinking about it for awhile, i usually have them dominated. Or if they make a 3x Big blind bet i triple it. Normally they just fold, but when or if they call i have them pretty dominated, they normally dont call with small pairs.

I haven't lost with this yet and have made pretty good money. Is this a goodd way to bet these hands?

Well i moreso look for hands where they bet 3x to 5x big blinds and then make a big raise, it usually scares them out, and thats a decent pot. Maybe it's not the way to use them but it's a little risk, little reward.

it seems youre afraid of playing AK post flop so youre over betting the pot to take it down pre flop, maybe you should take the amount of BB bets down a little so you can win more with your post flop play, but hey if its working out for you then stick with it, I just think its better of in the long run to not over bet AK

I think you will get into trouble when someone calls you with pp´s and get a set on the flop (or some other hand that beats beats a high pocket pair). If he puts you on KK or AA, you´re gonna have a hard time folding after that 10x BB bet preflop and probably an even higher bet on the flop. So, most of the time you win, but you don´t win very much. And sometimes you lose, but then you´ll probably lose your whole stack.

I'd like to just point out the textbook play of maintaining a constant preflop raise so you don't give hints at what you're holding. Sooner or later you're overbets are going to be good reads for good players at your table.

I think your best bet is just to bet out 4-6BB with every hand that you raise preflop unless your sure they are gonna call you like I sometimes come out preflop with 7.5xBB when I know its the type of table where thats what I have to do to get my aces heads up.....I also however come out with 7.5xBB with any hand in postion that I think I can pick up the blinds....my suggestion would be to go about 5xbb with AK and get 1 maybe 2 callers...Then if you miss toss out a pot sized bet and if you hit toss out a pot sized bet either way you usually win.

I try to do this myself, but I find I feel like I'm betting too much sometimes, especially with hands like AQo or AJs.

Do you ever feel that betting the same amount for AA and AQo sort of commits too much money on the AQo drawing hand?

I like what you just said there big red. I feel the same way. If I saw you bet that much PF what I can read there is that you don't want anyone to call you raise, which means that you don't have an already made hand like AA KK and so on. betting that much PF would also make alarm bells go off in my head when you would come in for a 3-4xBB PF where that to me would sound like a "comeon give me action I have the cards" bet. I personally think that a constant, table adjusted, raise (which is pretty much always around 3-5xBB)would be a more profitable raise for you and less for the other players.
