Question NEEDED: Post Nominations for a New BC Sticky

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to make a new Beginners Circle digest sticky. While the SSNL digest sticky is pretty good in terms of depth, I think it's a bit over-the-top in terms of including some slightly-too-advanced material for what we're shooting for here in the revamped BC. We really want to stick to the basics of poker here and make it as newbie-friendly as possible.

If you guys could offer suggestions (or even write new threads here in the BC to be included in the digest), then that would be awesome.

    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Xianti coined "spoonjob" sometime in the 5-6 years ago range for something like this.

Is Spoonjob On Holdem "Lessons from the Field" available as an FTR eBook?

The idea is for it to be only about the absolute basics or more less and to reserve the SSNL Digest for anything remotely more advanced
I didn't see anything in there about ranges.

I don't think beginners need to be beat over the head with trying to guess opponents' specific ranges.

I do think they need to be thinking about whether an opponent has a loose or tight range.

I.e. if someone takes a betting line often, then it represents a wide range; if someone does something they don't usually do, it represents a tight range.
Tight vs loose does not necessarily correlate to strong vs. weak.

Sounds good. Any posts in mind that cover this? Or would you be interested in writing something up? If so, PM it to me when you finish it so I don't miss it.

I've spent a couple of hours on this, and I'm still revising large chunks at a time.

What I'm trying to do is to tiptoe through the baby steps of thinking about opponents.

I'm not sure how relevant it is coming from someone who doesn't use a HUD. I mean... what I'm trying to explain is how to make a sweeping guess about a player's stats. Which is pointless if you have a HUD that you can just glance at.

So maybe this idea of mine is not such a good one.

Do you think it's worth the effort of the article considering that I'm the only one left on the internet who doesn't use a HUD?
