Just something I find myself doing from time to time again "unknown" players, because there are so many people playing at the 10nl that there are a lot of people that you play that you never seen or will never see again. So what I do sometimes is call bets to the river (as long as they are not stack draining) not with the intentions of winning the hand but just so I can get some type of idea who this new guy is and what he will try to do. Most of the time its reliable enough to allow me not to make mistakes againt this guy and even sometimes gives off a false image to the other player. What do you guys think of this logic and how do u gather your info from unknowns.

Seems like a reason against doing this rather than one for it.

Sounds like the information you're getting isn't worth what you're paying for it.

The general consensus here will be don't do this. Think if you did this over the course of 50k hands and how much bb/100 you're losing on gaining information versus players that you may not see again.

Treat everyone at 10nl as a passive donk until proven otherwise. This can be learned by watching the action and can take as little as an orbit.

If you can check it down, sure - but in the long run you are losing money doing this.

It could get you into trouble eg: pp against low set or set vs set etc
