Get Rich Or Die Trying...
What are your poker goals? This is something that you should be constantly evaluating as long as you are still playing poker. Based on what your attitudes towards your both long and short term goals will dictate what type of attitude you take towards your overall poker 'career'. For example, if you just want to have a good time and grind out some money out of an enjoyable hobby you need to treat it as such. However, if you decide that you want to play professionally it ought to be treated as such. I think that now while still learning how to play competently is the perfect time to start to plan out how you want poker to work out for you. I strongly suggest to all you beginning players that you take a few minutes out of your day to think about what you want poker to do for you. And making sure that what you want poker to do for you lines up with what your doing to make that happen. If you have actions unaligned with your goals then you my friend are treading water. As any poker player knows time is money. So do yourself a favor.
So I ask you to think about this:
1) What do you want poker to do for you?
2) What am I doing for poker to get poker doing what I want?
3) Do I want to get rich or die trying?
or
4) Is the only money I want from 'Chris MonkeyMaker' neighbors and friends?
5) Are my actions congruent with my goals?
6) Is there anything I need to do to realign my actions with my goals?
