i'd imagine this would nearly certainly be a +EV 3b spot. whether or not flatting is better i would assume depends what villain's postflop game is like, right? you didn't really provide very much information for a "3b or call preflop" type of thread. i could see myself 3b/jamming this vs some people, flatting vs others. does villain like to 4b or does he normally call/fold vs 3bets? does he CB too much and give up? etc

edit: barring us having any more info than VP/PFR/3b/FT3b i would probably lean toward 3betting this hand, but i'd likely flat it if we were BUvCO

Seems like a clear fold. Villain is reggish with his 14/13 and 65% FT3.

You can probably do whatever you like in this spot and it wont be too bad.

I wonder what his continue to 3b range looks like? Does he 4bet bluff? Also postflop reads as rpm said.

good call re not enough reads
    fold to 3b 65%
    4b 0% (vs over 20 3bets)
    flop cbet 71%
    turn cbet 40%
    generally fairly fit-or-fold vs resistance

honestly i don't know what is best. i'm leaning towards 3betting and planning to fold out better pairs/better Ax hands on a lot of flops. i really don't know if we should be 3betting de-polarised for value to exploit him calling a lot and never 4betting, or 3betting polarised (as a kind of bluff that i dont expect to work until a later street)

edit: i guess if he's fit or fold post then i'm more inclined to 3bet polarised with a decent sized bluff range and steal a lot of pots from him postflop. i'd add more value hands to "protect" that 3b range if he starts 4betting or fucking with us

with these stats, do you think there's any chance he's opening wide enough to 3bet a depolarized pure value range? I mean how wide is a 14/13's MP2 opening range? Honest question, I haven't been playing FR in a while so I don't know what that typically translates to. I mean, if his opening range is 14% here, assuming he folds 2/3 of it to a 3bet, he continues with 99+, AQs+, AK, against which range AK only has 44%. So our value 3bet part would look like {QQ+}?

Are BU's stats not relevant here? I would hope daven's table/seat selection indicates button is a nit or at least not a maniac, but I still want to be sure we're not going to find ourselves oop in a 3b pot very often here.

I like the 3b, fwiw, esp since villain is not 4betting, so even when we're dominated, we see a flop a huge amount of the time, and a lot of hands that dominate us will fold to flop cbet. Seems like a clear +ev spot, assuming button is folding enough.

i assumed their absence meant he's not entering too many pots/not likely to start 4betting etc
