Just wondering what sites everyone on here plays on, is it just the one site, or several? Which sites do you prefer etc?
I play on Stars as I like that it's easy to use and there are some nice tournaments to play in as well

I've been playing on Stars but combining the hit that uk players have taken to cover the tax liability with the general scaling back of player rewards and the increasing use of stupid all in tourneys to distribute rewards , i'm likely to be moving the majority of my play over to the "soft" side of Ipoker with a sweet rake back deal. SNE equivalent without the work and volume. Thats the theory but ipoker are implementing a new rake allocation regime from 1st january so i'll wait to see what the equivalent rakeback works out to be. |

Why exactly did Stars stop American players from joining after Black Friday? |

Unlawful internet gaming enforcement act made it illegal for banks and companies to process money transactions to gaming sites . stars the full tilt , ultimate bet etc just carried on using illegal payment processors to process those transactions. Black friday was when DOJ swooped seized the domains and bank accounts of the poker sites and told them to stop serving us players and pay massive fines. SOme could (stars) most couldn't and went bust. |

Ah I see, yeah I use a Hud just started using poker tracker about a month or so ago, handy for seeing graphs and stats etc, but still a bit confused by it all. Playing the lower stakes (micro) the live stats seem a little useless, can see how they would be effective at the higher stakes when you are gathering information on regulars etc but I guess I am still learning the Hud so it will probably be more useful as I understand it a little more. What Hud would you use yourself? I find poker tracker quite user friendly and has great tutorials to help teach the software |

i've got both HEM2 and PT4 and use hem2 out of preference. They are both owned by the same company though so eventualy the technologies will probably be merged . HEM2 is multi threaded so takes advantage of all the processor cores you have , whereas PT4 is single threaded so just runs on one core. this gives HEM2 a speed advantage importing large numbers of hands . HEM2 also has a better designed database , whereas PT4 has a fixed database design, if they add new features they have to adapt the database and since that is single threaded can take forever with a large database. HEM2 doesn't have that problem but requires a better spec of computer to run The more memory you have the better . |

I think I am finding myself at the same point as mrFerguson, but you two are talking way over my head, however I am interested in the conversation.... I play on stars simply because I have played there for years. I am interested in new horisons as well but obviously not as technically savy..... where do we go from here???? |

HUDs only work for real money play , pretty sure that play money games on stars don't save hand histories so he huds would have to screen scrape to get the info and thats a lot of coding effort to go to for something people are unlikely to pay for . They are definitely not saved for home games play money tables. |

No point in even using them for play money anyways you aren't really getting any gain from it apart from more 'fake' money lol. Plus everytime you sit down at a play money table it's probably gona be different people everytime |

probably helps if you say where here is .... do you want to play for real money , which will entail a deposit, which state are you in as you may (nevada and new jersey) have "legal" cardrooms available , offshore sites available (most of the rest) or none (washington off the top of my head) available. |

I got HEM2 and love it mate, it has quick tabs to table ninja and all these other cool add ons that poker tracks doesn't have included in it, just makes it a bit easier for it all to be in the one place, plus the layout is a bit more user friendly |

a lot of those require extra payment though, table ninja is now a monthly fee and leak bust , notecaddy etc are paid extras. PT4 has a version of those applications built in but not as advanced.Since they have merged into one company its likely that the bolt ons are available for both HEM and PT4 and future versions of the tracking software will probably go down the monthly fee route to provide a more stable income and avoid a bottom up reprogram to justify a new software sale. |

How has iPoker dealt with the bot problem? Last time I was there it was pretty much 90% 22/17 mutlitable bots or rakeback grinders

i don't know yet , getting my id verified before depositing , but with a 50% max vip deal , +renewable bonuses clearing at 20% and a rake race on top i'm gonna give it a go.Ipoker appear to have solved the currency skimming (according to posts on pokerstrategy who are owned by ipoker )last year though as currency conversions are jnow saved to a lot more than 2 decimal places. |

I play on Stars for cash game, but will likely move away soon as it continues to get much tougher each year. The software on Stars is far superior to any other site though apart from FT.

stars announced today that there will be rake surcharges for UK players from juky onwards to make up the rest of the 50% "player" contribution to stars UK player point of consumption tax |

UK poker was regulated from nov 2014.The downside is that poker sites offering UK players access have to pay 20% of their net earnings from UK players aas a point of consumption tax. Stars instead of thinking "tax is the price of doing business in a country" decided that UK players will have to contribute half of that tax burden that they now face. They are doing that by cutting back on the rewards by reducing the number of VPPs per $ of rake that uk players earn and now from july uk players will get charged rake ata greater rate than other players around the world. So we will pay more and get less rewards so that stars can maintain their margins. |

Ah I see, I also read there that the idea has all been scrapped, if they are talking about the same thing |

nah thats a seperate issue. Stars raised the rake across the board on various SNGs and increased the cap levels on hu play. i.e rake was capped at .5$ per hand and they increased the cap to $2 . figures for illustration. The effect was that lots of people moved elsewhere so instead of raising their income the number of people playing took a hit and presumably thier income took a bigger hit. now stars are rolling back those rake increases in the hope that players return and their income returns to previous levels. |

Ahh I see mate, tell me this if online poker was to be legalized this year in America, would we see site traffic on the likes of pokerstars etc go through the roof, tournament sizes almost double etc.. |

nope , initially states are legalizing on a state by state basis. cross agreements between states to share liquidity are being talked about , its gonna be a number of years before USA players get to join a world pool again. The first hurdle is to get usa players playing in a us pool. |

Just had a read through that, I am finding it really difficult to get out of the micros, so much so that I feel like investing a little more money so that my bankroll can manage 25nl and giving it a go, and then jump down in stakes if I can't handle it. I went and bought some poker books and am studying it a little more to improve my game a bit |
