You probably won't lose a lot of money playing the 50/50s (although you can lost quite a few of these in a row just through variance), but you won't win much either in the long-run.

I've only played a few of these some time ago now, but I used to play these pretty damn tight until I got down to about 5bb. There's an awful lot of players in these that seem to want to knock everybody out and it's not too difficult to exploit that tendency. That said, you shouldn't be playing so tight that you won't be able to double-up from one of the weaker players early on that is splashing around.

If you're really interested then try posting the question in the tournament forum and offer some suggestions as to how you think you should go about beating these games. I'd also recommend that you look up some push-fold charts to get you going, but make sure you note that these are really aimed at standard sit&gos and mtts, rather than 50/50s (I think - don't quote me on that).

Double or nothings can be very profitable over a lot of volume with low variance. As the above post states make sure you study push fold situations because when blinds begin to move up in these games you need to know what spots to shove in. You also will want to study ICM because it is also very important in double or nothings.
