    Default 99 vs 55BB stack

This was the first couple of hands after the table formed, guy is unknown. Calling seems iffy as implied odds are bad and 99 doesn't flop well. I'm thinking about making it $0.35/call then bet/calling most non terrible flops.

    Thoughts?

Flat this, and play the flop in position. Raising will isolate you against dominating/flipping hands, and you want to keep the pot small right now for reasons you've mentioned.

I don't like 3bet calling it off here. I'd fold then i'd find a different table with 100bb stacks or as close as i can get. I'd flat here if i had played a few orbits with the guy and knew he was opening widish pre cos essentially we aren't set mining vs this stack size just calling to play in position vs a weakish range if we have that info of course. So i'm folding, finding a new table.

I'm calling until I know a bit about the guy. No point stacking off against what could be a nit. If he's loose enough that flipping here is good then they'll be plenty more opportunities to get his stack, especially as it's 5 handed.

It's awkward due to the effective stacks. If you 3bet, it's not easy to fold if he shoves, but you may well be in a slightly ahead or way behind situation. If you flat, you're largely hoping for a flop that isn't very likely, with a 9 or all undercards. Against an unknown, I probably flat, but I don't know if either option is vastly better.
