Default 2 questions about ranges HU

(Not sure where this belongs as I'm new to FTR, hopefully this is the right subforum)

    1. I play heads up sng at low/mid stakes. When playing a weak, non-handreading opponent (which is the case about 80% of the time), does it make any sense to think about both players' ranges? My understanding is that against this kind of player ("fish") it's sufficient to just play my hand vs his range, instead of my range vs his range. It seems obvious to me but maybe I'm underestimating the value of reading both ranges even vs fish.

    2. How do you visualise ranges? Preflop it's not that difficult but I have trouble with the postflop part. What kind of training is recommended for improving range reading postflop?

    1. Not entirely sure what you're asking? I guess you're asking should you think about what he thinks your range is. If so, you should, even if your conclusion is that he isn't paying any attention and is just looking at his hand. Because if he doesn't know what your range is, you can adjust to play in a way that would be exploitable by good players. e.g. you should bet big even when your range looks strong and avoid bluffing, because he'll never realise that your big bets are 0% bluffs

    2. The best training is to read threads in here and discuss hands. You basically want to take the pre-flop range and then narrow it down street by street. Each action post-flop gives you more information to refine a raise with - e.g. if someone raises then check calls flop they won't have absolute air like 2 under cards. If someone flats 4 way on a drawy board you can reduce the number of combos of sets/two pairs as they're likely to raise for protection, etc. Pokerstove is useful for this.

Well, ty for the reply but I think you slightly misunderstood my question. Maybe it wasn't precise enough. Nevermind though because I've just come across heybude's article on this site "ISF Theorem" where he says 1. Our range is entirely dependent on what our opponent thinks our range is. Therefore a fish is not putting us on much of a range and all we can really do is think on the 1st level. We have a hand that is beating his range then we bet/call. If we don't, then we fold (call if we are drawing or since we are ahead of some and pot odds dictate). which if I understand it correctly confirms that vs fish we play our hand not our range.

Oh, yeah I did misunderstand sorry. You're talking about balance etc? Just play exploitably, which means following ISF Theorem
