Tournament structure question

    Default Tournament structure question

I am playing in a two day tournament this weekend. The buy in is around £50. Players start with 10,000 chips, 5,000 of which are already on the table, the other 5,000 can then be added at any point during the first hour of play.

My question is whether or not you think I should just start with 10,000 or go with the 5,000 and adapt my strategy to suit a smaller stack?

The obvious advantage would be being able to go all in without risking going bust but maybe this misses value on big hands where a deep stack would be a nice thing to have. My thoughts were that I would just see what others do on the day and then make an on the spot decision but I'd like some advice as to whether this is common in live tourneys and maybe other pros and cons that I need to think about.

    Thanks.

what will the blinds be like?

mostly I'd say just start with 10k. if the only other person who has 10k is to your left maybe wait.

If at least 1 player to your right has 10k, start with 10k.

Your 5K rebuy is going to be most valuable at the beginning of the tourney when it represents the greatest % of chips in play. Please start with maximum available if it is cost effective.

The exeption is if you are very poor at playing deep poker or river play but can play early streets well.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.
