    Default NLO8 27$ Progressive Knockout 2nd hand

Hello, I guess that progressive knockout is rather interesting format, especially when playing NLO8. Would you push in the flop or just call?

    Hand: http://www.pokerihanska.com/?h=117189343

    Things to note:
    1) No players busted so far, each player still has 12,25$ KO (player gets 6,13$ of it and rest goes for their KO)

    2) Just 1 low card makes low unlikely in the river.

    3) If I win high pot, other player wins low pot and third one busts, I win bounty. This is due to rather stupid PokerStars bug that even if 2 players bust a player (one with high hand, other with low) just a player who wins high pot gets bounty. Learned it by hard way yesterday.

Also would be nice to hear prople how they like to play PKOs in general, both NL Texas and NLO8.

I think your flop check-raise all in was pretty bad, you have the NFD, gutshot broadway str8 draw and very weak low in case a runner runner hits, so if you are getting called you are not in a great shape, and your bet size pretty much guarnteed you will only be called by sets which are favorite
the chance of getting called by two players is very slim, and the bountys are rather small now, I would call and reevaulate on the turn

Main problem with calling is that if I hit to either nut straight or nut flush I don't see how I can get bounties and more chips from either opponent. And it's a small downside if I lose even small portion of stacks I'm usually a moment in a position where I can win no bounties for being smaller stack than others.

If opponents fold everything else than sets you're prob right, even against 6322 I have just 44% (ProPokerTools) though ofc there's little more value in all-in as every time in KOs. But I've quite often seem them call with very speculative hands, like just open-ender straight draw with no hit, lower flush draw etc. or even far worse hands. That's why NLO8 is so great game

I think you are putting too much emphasis on winning the bounties in the early stages, the important bounties are in later stages of the tournament, when you push such a big overbet you will either win a small pot (which is nice, since it does put you in position to knock starting stacks out) or you will be a dog to sets or in the worst case top two, I don't see a scenario when you will get called by hands that you are ahead of

Maybe big overbet is worse than call at this position. But it's really hard to say sure in these tournaments, and I've had few bad experiences in losing some 10bb+ (like 5-15% stack) and end up doubling up later through someone still at starting stack so I might too much try to get away from such situations.

I have little mixed feelings playing PSKOs. While I like it that there really are few players who play them very well due to KO-element, they take more time to concentrate than regular tournaments. It's like either choosing to play 6 regular tournaments or 3 PSKO ones at the same time (or mix them).

As a hand history discussion, I would like to see much more strategy discussion about PSKOs. Most regular tournaments are actually quite straight-forward in comparison: usually just checking opponent stats (if you have them) and calculating odds makes right answer obvious especially when playing with not so deep stacks.

    fold pre.

Now that are you are here, I'd flat. Making a standard pot size raise also makes more sense than the ship which looks like what it is. You're helping all the dominated draws fold and never getting someone off something as weak as Q2 with a low draw. If you're just always going to jam flops to try and get bounties, you need to play tighter pre. This is not a hand that will scoop much and even if you flop a wrap you're not going to like it.

Why do you recommend to fold pre getting 9:1 on a call?

personally this is one of the toughest tournaments there in pokerstars, play a lot of players, and other than the weight that the bounty makes it more respectable.

I prefer to play the hot or regular tournaments 11R, 33R, etc. ..
