Default my first casino visit on saturday

    hi
on saturday i will make my first visit to the casino in my town (in germany).
i played a bit online poker and am about break even and have not much live poker experience so i have a question about what to play preflop.
in some articels i read that in live poker many players play very loose in calling and not that aggressive preflop. and from my online experience the european players are especially loose (high vpip).
so my idea is to raise just 99-AA, AK, AQ preflop by a large amount to get not too many callers.
and if its not raist too often i will limp in SCs, AXs, 22-88 and the broadways.
i am really not a very good player so i would appreciate it very much if you could tell me your opinion about this.
should i still raise some SCs or broadways to get some more action for my A range? or is my plan totaly bad alltogether?
thank you very much in advance

ps: i just thought about the preflop thing again and came up with this:
raise 99-AA and all other broadways (preflop raise rate 12,2%). and limp in SCs, AXs, 22-88, 53s-J9s , 78o-TJo what would make a VPIP of 24,9% overall. i could still modify this a bit at the table depending on position and specific players. but is it overall a good idea for a very loose, not to aggressive table? or maybe a bit less raising needed (because i will never get the blinds anywhay)? or is it maybe generally better to raise some SCs instead of the broadway stuff to deceive the opponents?

pps: oh and i forgot to say blinds will be both 2 euro

I don't really see a point trying to teach you poker in one post, so I'll just say: Only take with you what you're willing to loose.

    (you will loose)

If you want to learn poker the hard way, then go to the Beginner Circle forum and start reading through the digest.

ok.. i have anticipated something like that.
i have read a lot of ftr poker training articels, one beginner book and sklanskys theorie of poker but somehow that does not seem to make me a better player. im trying really hard to improve, maybe i am just not talented ^^
i will listen to your advice ofcourse. 80euro buy in, not more ^^

If it's your first live casino session, just get used to the tables and the games and the action. Nothing wrong with playing tight and waiting for good hands. Don't bring more than you plan to lose, and just get used to the game. It takes practice, study and time, so just have fun and play for the experience.

(We've all been there. I remember my first casino session after lots of home and online games. I was so nervous I mucked a full house because I didn't realize my 88 was ahead of Villain's likely AK on a board of 8KK. Duh.)

Planning on playing with 40bb and no more sounds terrible. If you're not comfortable sitting with 100bb and have a couple extra buyins handy in your pocket, you are underrolled and shouldn't play this game IMO. Playing so short, you can't play nearly as wide a range of hands as you mentioned, and besides it'd probably be not really profitable enough to be worth your while. I kind of doubt you're rolled for 200NL based on what you've posted. Might as well put those 80 euros on roulette.

And I know about under-estimating BR requirements live 'cause I've been there, watching how live players play and convincing yourself that 10BI ought to be enough.

thank you for your comments. i thought 80 euro buy in while the blinds are 2 euro would be enough to play pocket pairs, SCs and AXs. how much do you think is needed to play these hands?
i just heard that there will be a beginners table as well where one can play with 1 euro blinds. maybe that would be better with my planned buy in.

hey, just came back from my casino visit. to make it short: i bought in for 100euro and after 3 hours of unbelievably tight-passiv play from me (i played only about 10 hands, just to get a feeling for the overall athmosphere and how it feels to play with 1€/2€ blinds) i came out with 86euro, a night in the clubs is pricier ^^
the people there are really really bad players, all tight-passiv or loose-passiv, one maniac. next time i will play my normal poker and make some money. a friend of mine who has about the same poker experience as me (was his first casino visit too) made his 80€ buy in to 325€ in 3 hours, looks like a goldmine there ^^
thank you for all your advice, great forum here
