I post retarded hands because my opponents are

SB: Semi-tight preflop, over-plays lukewarm hands, total station post-flop. Got his stack on some serious WTF hands that made me think he's either sick good on really terrible. Now I'm pretty sure he's terrible.

LP: Semi-loose pre-flop and for small money. Stabby post-flop. Takes big bets seriously and some hand reading ability.

Table is kinda laggy by live standards. Several spots that play fairly aggo and take their hands too far, even for big money. I'm in my low gear and kinda pissed that I need to make hands.


I have about $2.5k (just stacked a LAgg I have history with)
SB has around $4k
The rest of the table has about $1k or less.


4 limpers, SB completes I check with


6 to the flop, ~$55 in the pot

SB checks, I check (usually I bet here, probably was ghey), checked through.


SB bets $40, I decide to just call, folds to LP who makes it $150, SB calls....

LP is unlikey to check 2 pair, flush or a set on the flop, so I'm putting him on 7x for trips or some sort of semi-bluff.
SB would go apeshit crazy with a boat (I think) so I'm thinking flush or trips as well.
I'm pretty sure I'm good here so I run the stupid obvious nuts line and re-raise to $600 to protect my hand and see if someone wants to make a really terrible call.

LP thinks.... folds...

SB tanks hard....
"You got a flush?"
"If you got the nut flush, you got me."
SB calls.

I'm pretty sure he's not acting and I'm pretty sure he's got a worse flush. I'm also not sure if I can ever manage to have a day job again because I get to play with guys like him....

I say make it $1200 (a weird pot sized bet on the river)

or something like $350 and hopes he reraises you, then you shove! $$$

i haven't played much live, but surely you just shovel it all in.

He tells you has a weak flush and can't beat the nut. So by betting all in you get a chance for him to mindfuck himself.

I think all-in gives him a good chance to make a correct decision in this hand. I bet $800 and he didn't think very hard before calling...

he would have called any bet above 800 I think

make value, 800 was a perfect bet imo. if you make a serious bet and he makes a hero fold, we hate life.

To be honest, I get to play very few rivers with big money in the pot and 2k behind per month. I didn't want to walk away empty handed.

last week i ran into the same spot in a 3 way pot but had to fold on the river after flop checking and flat call on the turn.
the board was like 9h 7h 2h 9d 7s or something. I had Kh 3h in BB and sb kept firing two big bullets from turn on.

I think if i bet small I bet $900 cos it's not quite 1k

but I think optimal play must be to shove it 'cos based on the read I just don't think he can make the hero fold half the time

though i can understand wanting the 'low variance' option... we're all human

Lol, it's not a hero fold. It's a trivial fold a street too late at any price.

I think the psychology here is what bet is big enough for him to make a fold he can feel good about, then bet a little less than that. Then again, maybe he's just got to see it at any price...

After his comments I would still shove. He can't get sleep for three days if he folds a flush here not knowing what you had.

given the opp, it sounds like he'll call 800 like 90% of the time... i dont think he calls very often if we shove even with a flush. esp a small one. definitely less than 50%..im leaning more towards like 1/4-1/3 times he'll call a retarded overshove. if he was bad and would've called a shove, then we can get chips from him later anyways.

Which is why I said, the $800 was nice but I feel he would even have called $1000 to $1200. meh, nice hand sir!
