I lost, but MMM may have cheated.

I have no evidence or reason to suspect, but he may have. You don't know!

In the game with Tyson and I today, we also had the same button graphic issue. I was using firefox.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

It does seem like 10 hands is more about luck than skill. I mean, if you make huge mistakes, that can cost you... but minor mistakes are overwhelmed by the drawing %-ages.

Would you consider 20 hands per bracket round a 'normal' (i.e. non-turbo) amount? 30?

Surely the tournament is just for a bit of fun, not an attempt to find FTR's best OFC player.

It's more about my own curiosity than anything. I keep thinking of different tourney structures.

The scoring of OFC makes lots of stuff possible. You could eliminate the brackets (not that there's anything wrong with brackets), if you wanted to. Each player could play against different opponents instead of playing only against a single opponent in each stage of the tournament. Then you could drop the bottom x% of the field and do it again.

I haven't ironed out all the bugs but consider this.
Each player plays n hands against each other player in HU matches. Once each player has played all n hands against each of their opponents, the leaderboard is culled to the top players (some pre-determined number advance).

I'm obviously not the first to mention this and I regret not getting a screenshot of it, but in yesterday's match against donkbee, my opponent and I both had dealer buttons next to our IDs in rounds 4 - 10.

Not sure about this but if you want an idea of HU OFC variance, I have played almost 1k hands vs one particular person and I went on a 300 point downswing quite quickly within the first couple hundred hands. I had a skill advantage for at least half the hands and after almost 1k hands I STILL am down 90 points overall.

    cliffs: OFC is swingy

    Dealer button bug is buggy

I'm playing criss cross with someone -- HU, 2 hands each -- and we play 30-round matches. We regularly have 200 point swings one way or the other.
Playing big pots at small stakes.

Maybe I play too conservatively - if I'm Mike then I'd put the 6 in front on 11th street to make sure I don't foul and lose the 15 sf royalty points (still two more deuces, one more five, three more aces and three more kings left at that point).

nothing set yet, but no reason we won't be able to schedule another one in a couple of weeks.

Donkbee and I will likely need an extension until Wednesday evening to do our match.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.
  30. #105
Yeah, sorry. We couldn't find a time tonight and tomorrow I am out of town all day.

I'd put the 4 up top on 10th.

I thought about that too but I figured we could take a chance on 10th in order to give ourselves an opportunity to get a queen on 11th and then maybe scoop.

I ran like God against donkbee. A few timely late street cards and even a trip to Fantasyland to help me finish with the win.

    gg Courtney!

The final matchup has been set! Mike1013 v KoRnholio, both have already locked up an FTR shirt, and are playing for a $25 Amazon gift card, but more importantly, the title of being the first to win an official FTR OFC tournament. *cue Bruce Buffer*

PMs sent to the finalists. If you guys also want to reply when you guys schedule your match, that would be cool, some people might want to rail the finals.

    good luck!

Final match between Mike and myself will be at 1:30pm ET Friday!

    sour grapes are sour.

That said, my luckbox is optimally configured to bail my sorry ass out on 13th, so KoRnholio better watch out!

I win! Despite KoRnholio entering Fantasy Land, I win. My luckbox is strong!

    Very strong! gg

That early hand where you went running quads on the bottom was the sickest. I think it was round 2?

Wow, you're right about the quads being sick!

I've never seen anyone get quads without at least one of them being part of the 5 card set.

    woot woot, congrats mike!

thanks to all who participated, this was a fun event, we hope to run a new one soon.

Yes, it was a lot of fun. I look forward to any other OFC events at FTR so that I can defend my title!
