Event FTR OFC v8 Live! Play for FTR Points! (Feedback Requested)

For those who haven't noticed, version 8 of our OFC client is now live: http://www.flopturnriver.com/ofc-poker/

Login and give it a try!

    Open/Cash Tables

The first thing you will notice is we now have a list of cash game style tables at the top. This is to help make it more convenient for players to find each other to play games. Prior to this new version, it was difficult to setup and play games, which is why most people played against the bots. However, you can now sit at a table and start a game immediately. Just like cash games, join and play as many or as few hands as you like.

At this time, these tables are limited to heads up play only. However, we plan on launching 3-4 handed tables as well in the coming weeks.

    Play for FTR Points!

In our open tables, you can sit down at our FTR Points (FTRP) tables where you can wager points to increase your FTR bankroll! Stakes are currently split between low (1 FTRP) and high (10 FTRP). For example, if you're playing at a High Stakes table, every point earned or lost while playing OFC will be worth 10. So in a hand, if you win 10 points from a player, you will gain 100 FTR Points.

Our How to Earn FTR Points article explains how to earn these points throughout FTR, and some of the things you can do with them.

In the coming weeks, we will be announcing new leaderboards and ways to spend your FTR points for prizes, gear, contests, special events, and more. Stay tuned!

Note: Only FTR members can play for points, so if you've been playing connected via Facebook, now would be a good time to register a free account.

    Feedback Requested

While we did extensive testing during the development phase, it is still possible to find issues lingering. We appreciate anyone reporting these bugs, requesting new features, and making suggestions to improve the new client.

Please post all feedback in this thread.

This is a HUGE improvement!! Setting up games before was hit/miss and drove me to BOT play that was boring at times. Now, it's exciting to watch the points rack up. Haven't gotten a bite yet on a high-stakes table but am eager to start "gambling" with those points. Also, the added sorting options in FL is very helpful. Thanks for making FTR much more enjoyable...

Glad you like it! Yeah, I agree it's so much better, we've been working on it for quite a while.

Having a lot of fun playing against everyone today! I agree, these new open tables make it really easy to find someone to play.
Just dropped over 1k points to Creeture - he waxed me!

I hope we will have 3-4 handed games ready in the coming weeks.

Please if anyone has any feedback, suggestions, or criticisms, let us know!

Just want to mention that we are aware of the issue where players are being dealt their 5 set cards twice and are working to fix it. While it seems to be a rare bug, sorry for any problems this is causing atm!

I love this website. Thank you for what you do. Wild difference between playing a bot and a human.
Is there a ftr store? I'll buy something...
  7. #7
Thanks Dcake! No store yet, but we may come out w/ some stuff in the foreseeable future. In the meantime, we do have FTR branded caps but not in a store, we ship them out as prizes to contest winners. I'm sure we'll do an OFC tournament or something soon w/ some prizes.

For whatever it's worth, I tried to join a game with ttanaka yesterday but the software glitched. I got the initial five cards, but it never gave me any more.

    Say it isn't so!
It takes 2 years to learn to talk, but a lifetime to learn when to shut up.

In an effort to get more people to play each other instead of the bots for points, we removed these. We're not sure if this a permanent change at this time.

We also felt it made earning points too easy. Glass Joe is for beginners, and can be crushed for thousands of points easily. We want people to use the bots to learn how the game is played, and then venture to playing real people for points.

We have made some improvements to our code and think this bug should be fixed. If you still encounter this issue, please let us know.

I don't always have enough time to engage in Heads Up play, so I like to battle the BOT for sport. Extended BOT play tends to dull the senses but offering points-play against BOTs was cool and added a bit of a challenge. Also, I didn't realize there were different levels of BOTs. That being the case, can't you open one or two tables for BullBot battle only? If people are camping out, then could you put a limit on the number of games per session? Finally, I don't know what happens if you lose all your points. How are folks to keep playing? Is there a refresh?

    Keybored,

Good questions. We get points for posting among other things so I'm sure we'll figure out how to get people back in the game when they run out of points.
  16. #16
Yeah, those are good questions. One of the issues we were worried about is how the bots are constantly giving away too many points as we want the FTR Points to be finite and eventually used to spend on freerolls and other player benefits.

You can still play against the bots - it's the same AI - just not for points. We'll consider any suggestions though.

Love the idea. Lobby seems fairly dead. I didn't realize there was a chat until I'd played quite a while but that's a nice feature. I'll try to pop in on the 1/pt turbo table when I can and give you guys action. Will try not to hit and run the 10/pt tables if there isn't any action (apologies).

Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a timed option for vs bot play if that's possible. Really like the times btw 2 minutes is good. Hopefully some more people start playing.
  19. #19
Yeah, that's something we could do - introduce a 2 minute turbo version of the bot tables?
  20. #20
A Turbo BOT table would be good...one minute is all that's needed since the BOT sets/plays so quickly.
  21. #21
Forgive me for not understanding, but why would anyone need a timer on the bot tables? It's a single player game and you can play as fast or slow as you want.
  22. #22
I figured that suggestion was a possible compromise to the BOT for FTRP removal. It could be a hurdle to prevent people from camping out on the BOT and soaking up easy points. Creating one BOT table (1 FTRP) with a 1-minute timer and 20-round max is better than no FTRP BOT table. It's not perfect but it may be a middle ground...

Played one of the bots tonight and was getting an error trying to post hands. Was really just a brag post got +33 on a hand that included JJJ 3-card. Best hand I've had.

Don't think it's a priority but thought some newer players might like the convenience of seeing where they're at on speed before jumping in and playing somebody.

    I'm not able to submit any hands from the games right now, getting this error;

Yeah, this has been fixed, you can now post your OFC hands in the forum!

I'm posting here for two reasons: to get my first set of FTR points, and to let you know that as a player in New Jersey, the "How to Earn FTR Points" link redirects me to nj.flopturnriver.com.
  27. #27
ugh - yeah, the state of NJ is making it difficult for us, we'll see if this is something we can fix, thanks for letting us know.
  28. #28
    Hey all,

We recently released a patch to help fix some of the reported issues, including:

    - Being dealt 5 set cards twice and timing out.
    - Unable to place cards when in FL.
    - Not receive points while in FL.
    - Skipping players turns.
    - Allowing negative FTRP balance at the table.

While we've done some testing on this, it's hard to recreate everything so we would greatly appreciate if those using the software could let us know if these problems persist, or notice any new issues.

    Thanks!

We just released a new update to our OFC client. Here is the summary:

    - Players can no longer leave the table while someone is in Fantasy Land.
    - When FL is active, the next round will auto start if Next Round is not hit.
    - If you time out during a FL hand, you will be penalized -18 points, while the player in FL will net +18 points on top of their royalties. (In almost all cases, players will time out because they had left the table.)
    - If a player remains in FL, they will continue earning royalties/penalties on a player who left the table.

So the moral of the story, don't be that guy and leave the table when someone hits FL! Before it was frowned upon, but now it will cost you!

If anyone has any questions or notices any issues, please let me know.

There is a bug with the Sit Out button after a player hits FL during the match. We're working on fixing that now.

There is also another issue where boards are disappearing between rounds after hitting Next Round. We will fix this as well.

I saw an example of this today so I don't think it's working...

    alright, looking into that one.
  33. #33
All of the above bugs, including the negative FTRP issue, have been fixed.
