Badugi hand

Really have litte idea on how to play this game

wtf is the point of this game?

alright, played a few games. Dont know any of the math but I feel like id play it the exact same. Where would our possible leaks be?

all I've played is play money (before Stars had the cash game up). Surely we have value on the river at these stakes right?

Predraw: Is our hand good enough to cap ?
Draw1: Once villian limped-3bet us and stood pat we have to assume he has a badugi hand, we drew and missed.
I think we are justified to call the 0.50 bet to about $5 pot.

2nd draw: This is where I am confused, is J badugi hand usually good enough in those spots

this is what i was wondering. If you have a 4 card badugi how valuable is it? When the other guy stands pat then checks, does that plus his check say he was attempting a stand-pat, hope you draw, bet the final street bluff?

I believe it all depends on the player you are up against. In online badugi you run into a lot of noobs and a lot of people who are just learning the game. In these games you will easily be able to tell the ones who know how to play and the ones who don't. The ones who don't know how to play, play it like a drawing game drawing two or 3 on first draw and then 1 or 2 every draw over. I usually play this pretty tight, and you did play that hand well. The only thing is, what kind of player is he. Will he stay pat with any badugi out the gate or does he play pretty tight and only is drawing 1 at a time like suggested or is he crazy drawing 2-3 on first draw all the time. Because if he is the tight kind of player, you need to realize you have to hit an 8 or better to win. so you actually don't even have odds to call the 1 dollar bet on last draw. If he is a loose player that bluffs from time to time and also likes to draw a lot you can put him on a much worse badugi already and know that if you hit it is good most of the time. In which case you are almost getting odds to call the last draw and then call anything if you hit. I don't think you played it wrong against a loose player, but against a tight player i would have folded for the dollar on the last draw due to no odds, knowing i am drawing to 2-5 outs tops. I am actually in the process of writing a strategy guide for this game due to the fact that i have played it so much in the past 4 years at my dealers choice game. I love that it is gettin big with the rest of the poker community, because i have a head start.

Can someone post me a link or something with a list of all kind of hands in Badugi, just played 2 freeroll tournaments, havent got a Badugi yet.

If someone could help it would be nice.

No one knows how to play this game. I doubt there's much reason to learn, either.

Thats why its good to be some of the first to learn how to play it perfectly, so that you can beat all the newcomers.

The games are really, really soft. People tend to draw way too thin, miss value when they are ahead, play too many hands OOP, are too passive, ect. It's like playing LHE on Party 5 years ago.

Of course, I'm only playing .25/.50 and .50/1.00 but it's much softer the the LHE games I was playing (at the same level). I'm also running as hot as the sun, which is fun.

First of all is this not the greatest gambling game ever. I like it even more then Omaha. I think you played this hand exactly right. Standing pat without taking one draw usally means your oponent had a Badugi hand but not a great one(Maybe like a 9,10 J low). You were drawing to a 5 low which is a draw you have to make. I may have tried to scare him on the turn with a raise once you made your hand but at low limits and being a new game its rare to push someone off. Good check on the river though.

i dont like this game that much this is more a luck game then a skill game and if you think this is a good gambling game i would hate to see how you play omaha

To me it looks like you played this fine, raising preflop with 3 to the near-nuts, then keeping the pot low (not raising or reraising) once villain stood pat without reraising preflop. This usually means they have a weak badugi, 10 or higher, and you had an excellent shot at outdrawing them. Even with the J high at the end you had a shot at winning, though not enough to throw in a bet.

a badugi is simply 4 unpaired cards of different suits, A 2 3 4 all of different suits would be the nuts

Some German guy has made some really nice vids on Badugi on Pokertube. They will really hep if your just starting like me. The lower levels are pretty damn easy money. Some folk are crazy and will call you all the way down when you Stand Pat on every draw

I play Badugi poker on luck. I only call when i got 3 different colors( you know) then i just try and try and when i have badugi i am allin. There isnt a good tactic for badugi its just hoping. Thats why the game sucks. There isnt a tactic you can use. I think there arent much that like this game. But sometimes when i am boring i play this just because i love poker.

Yeah you should have folded after the first draw. All you had was a draw on a J low. When some one stands pat on the first draw it means they have got a badugi or they are trying to bluff at the pot. Most of the time in the low ring games people dont have the balls or knolage on when to stand pat with a 3 card. So most likely they had the badugi and u were drawing dead

I would have discarded the Jack and hope for a better badugi. You had like 6 or so outs. I'd say your opponent had 10 high badugi.

I really have little experience in Badugi, what do you think the cut off Badugi hand between drawing and standing pat is ?

If you are delt a badugi even if its a Q or K stand pat. Q low is a fav. vs a 2 card dis card. and J low is Fav. vs 1 card dis card. If after the first draw, some one els stands pat I try to draw On a K or Q low if its cheap. If the vill discards on the second draw i would keep my K Q or J.

It depends on how many draws are left. If there is one draw left your gunna have to stand pat with any badugi, with 3 draws left, I would try to improve a J high (unless you have J 10 x x in which case it wouldn't improve much anyway)
