I like this game.
Just had my sickest hand, got dealt K-high badugi on the button, there's a raise, I worry he has been dealt one too, so I flat, along with one other before me. He stands, the other draws 2, and I decide the raiser isn't bluffing and dump my THREE high cards, keeping just my ace, and I'm rewarded (!) with ANOTHER K-high badugi. The pre raiser bets the pot, the other guy calls, I fold. Raiser stands, caller draws 1, raiser goes all in, caller calls, raiser had J-high badugi, the other muppet has made his draw and wins a massive pot with 6-high. No justice.
There seem to be MANY more fish in badugi than NLHE, I guess a lot of people are still learning the game and don't properly apply pot odds. And, joy of joy, it's harder for the fish to suck out against you. But it still happens.
If you have a loose table, play your strong hands as aggressively as possible. People will pay a pot sized bet then draw 3 cards!
Don't be afraid to bail on a dealt badugi if someone seems to have made their draw... if the fish outdraw you, don't be a fish and try to outdraw him back, play your game, not his. It's very difficult for someone to bluff by standing if someone else is standing too, so it's a near certainty that he has one too if you're both standing.
Bluffing can be interesting. I tend to play any four cards on the button. I've once taken down a big pot after the final draw on the button by drawing just one card first two draws, despite having a terrible hand, then standing last draw and raising the better! He folded, I showed, he went ballistic! He made his hand with the final draw with a king. He thought I was crazy, I taunted him by claiming it was advanced Badugi, and he should wise up fast!
People don't expect this kind of bluff, they think it's all "stand pat" and nothing more. Drawing one when you need four lends credit to a bluff.
Another bluff I took down was an outrageous blind defence. I got dealt trash, dumped all four, then stood pat and raised big!!! Too outrageous to be a bluff, surely? He folds, I show, and credit to him, he said nice bluff!
Haven't played too much of this game though, while I might be a bit lateral when it comes to bluffing, and I can make big folds and assess situtions pretty well, I'm not winning at this game yet.
