Default 50 bvb vs a presumed reg

with a hand like this vs an unknown but assumed regular im not really sure if id be better off 3betting or flatting pre and how each option would work into diff game plans so im looking to initiate a bit of dicussion on 3betting bvb

PokerStars Pot-Limit Omaha, $0.50 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    CO ($27.60)
    Button ($14.10)
    SB ($54.35)
    Hero (BB) ($50)
    UTG ($54.15)
    MP ($15)

    Preflop: Hero is BB with 8, J, 8, J
4 folds, SB bets $1.50, Hero raises to $4.50

I'd flat, i never really understood 3bing (double) paired hands.

You're either going to smash the flop or not like it much at all. BvB I think you'll get paid pretty often when you flop a set so I'd rather not generate a bunch of FE pre. Better to 3b any connected/suited hand where you can improve on turn a lot when you do get called OTF. With this hand you aren't even going to like your draws unless it specifcally comes T9x with hearts.

it's also probably going to be impossible to get showdown value out of your JJ in a 3bet pot whereas you may be able to call two streets if you flat.

in game flow terms I don't mind at all if he wants to raise in this spot 100%.

Word. Double pair hands usually smash or dash, I think you can find better spots to 3bet imo. As boy said hands like 9876 dbl suited, or JJT9 or hands like that, along with the premiums. Double pair hands are like 3betting small pairs from the blinds in NLH, they either smash or leave u in a terrible spot. Flat, take a flop and move on.
