To download the 888 app for iOS, go to the Apple Store and search for ‘888 poker’. The real money app should be the first in line.
For Android devices, visit 888 Poker Mobile page (http://www.888poker.com/poker-promotions/android.htm) and use one of the three available option to get the app.
Features & Drawbacks
The first thing you should keep in mind is that the 888 app is not available in all countries. You can check out the full list of countries where you can download the app on the 888 Homepage (FTR Link). If you have an iOS device and the mobile app is not available in your store but 888 is accessible from your country through the main client, than you can still get the mobile app. All you have to do is change the country of you apple account to any country that allows the 888 mobile app. This will allow you to access that country’s app store and download the app.
The 888 Mobile App is designed first and foremost for the recreational player, so it’s no surprise that you won’t find most of the features commonly used by more experienced players like the player search feature and third party software compatibility.
The most critical drawback, however, is the lack of multi – tabling. While this is also mainly an experienced player trait, there seems to be no reason for not allowing to open 2 or 3 tables instead of only one. In fact, for some players playing only one table can get quite boring.
In conclusion, 888’s Mobile App is definitely competitive and even though it has its drawbacks, there is a good chance that most of those will be addressed with new updates to the app.
Creating a New Account
888’s Mobile App allows new players to register an account right from the app. To do so, open the app and click ‘Register’ when the login screen appears.
The registration process is the same as it is on the full 888 client, so first you will have to enter your personal information, which will have to verified later, so be sure to enter you real name and e-mail address.
Next, choose your username, password and security question for an extra layer of account protection.
Finally, enter your contact information, which will have to be verified later too.
And that’s it, now you are ready to hit the tables!
Making a Deposit
888’s Mobile App doesn’t have a built in cashier feature, however, they have solved that problem by transferring you to a browser cashier on their website whenever you want to access it through the mobile app. Simply click ‘Cashier’ in any of the lobbies and you will be transferred to the cashier.
The browser cashier is exactly the same as you would find in the full 888 client, so to make a Deposit all you have to do is choose one of the available Deposit methods and fill in all the necessary information. Most Deposits will be processed instantly.
Bonus & Promotions
Unfortunately, 888 Poker currently doesn’t offer any specific Bonuses for mobile app users. All new players can still take advantage of 888’s First Deposit Bonus, boosted by FTR to 100% up to $600 (Aff link), not to mention the free $88 offer which you can check out in our Detailed 888 Bonus Review.
Software & Interface
The app is designed with the goal of allowing players to find a game as quickly as possible. There are two lobbies to choose from – the Regular Lobby, which hosts standard Cash Games and Tournaments and the Snap Lobby, which hosts Snap Cash Games and Tournaments.
In fact, when it comes to regular Cash Games, you can’t actually view the tables and select where you want to play, rather you simply select the game type, table size and stakes and the app sits you at an available table with those specifications.
The Snap Cash Games Lobby is virtually the same as the full 888 client Snap Lobby, so all you have to do is select your stakes and you’ll be dealt a hand within seconds!
Many mobile apps have issues with tables being overly filled with various buttons and information. This can make for some serious miss click potential on the relatively small smart phone screens.
Fortunately, 888’s app is almost all table and no unnecessary buttons. The betting buttons and slider are quite big, so you would really have to miss a button badly for a miss click to occur.
One thing that has been drastically cut compared to the full 888 client is the table customization ability. The mobile app offers only a handful of critical settings, but you won’t find any table themes or animation options. While this shouldn’t be a big deal for the vast majority of mobile users, it seems like something the app could definitely improve on.
