As the last of the WSOP events are coming to a close, the biggest one of them all is just beginning. Day 1A of the WSOP Main Event is in the books and with two more starting days to go this years’ Main Event promises to be as good as ever. That being said, many of the top pro’s, including some former Main Event winners are still in the hunt for bracelets in other events.

Event #58: The Little One for One Drop No-Limit Hold’em

With the buy in x100 times smaller than The Big One for One Drop, 4,756 players took to the felt, each putting up $1,111, 3% of which goes directly to the One Drop foundation. Heading into the final day 8 players remain with Nghi Tran leading the way with 4,130,000 chips. The winner of this tournament will receive $663,727.

Event #60: No-Limit Hold’em

The $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event which kicked off after The Little One For One Drop attracted a sizable crowd of 2,541 players and now only 15 remain with Cy Williams from California leading the way with 1,372,000 in chips. $609,017 of the $3,430,350 total prize pool will go to the winner.

Event #61: Pot-Limit Omaha

A total of 386 Players entered this event, creating a $3,628,400 prize pool and now after three days of play 32 remain in what perhaps might be the most international final table of this years WSOP. Current chip leader is Alexey Rybin with 977,000 chips and no country has more than 2 players representing it in the current top 9. That being said this might be one of the most talented final tables as well. Among the remaining pro’s are Mike Watson who is currently second in chips, as well as Daniel Alaei (676,000) and Jonathan Duhamel (664,000) who are in 6th and 7th places at this point. Among the reimaining players Mark Davis (301,000), Yevgeniy Timoshenko (259,000) and Joseph Cheong (89,000) are still in the hunt, so tomorrow promises some great action in this event.

Event #62: No-Limit Hold’em Main Event

The first of three day 1’s attracted 943 players and got this year’s Main Event off to a promising start.
The opening ceremony for the $10,000 buy-in Main Event set a nostalgic tone as reigning World Champion Greg Merson unveiled his winner’s banner and kicked off day 1A with the traditional “Shuffle Up and Deal!”

With that Merson promptly hit the table and got to work as he steadily chipped up over the course of the day and by the end of it finished off with 81,650 chips, almost tripling his stack and giving himself a good position to get through day 2.

A total of 584 survived the day and will be back in action for Day 2A on Tuesday. Leading the pack is Evan Panesis, who accumulated an impressive 190,975 chips throughout the day.
