Chrysalis, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding employment for economically disadvantaged individuals, has been chosen as the WPT Celebrity Invitational’s charity partner for the second year in a row. The World Poker tour celebrity Invitational Event is slated to take place on February 19 at Commerce Casino in Los Angeles.

Chrysalis is on the front lines of the battle against the recession and helps more than 400 people a day. In total, the charitable entity has pulled over 35,000 people out of the depths of poverty and into the workforce. Best of all, 91% of the money donated goes directly toward helping those in need.

“Chrysalis is thrilled and honored to be named the beneficiary charity of the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational for the second year in a row. Last year’s event was a tremendous success and allowed us to further our vital mission,” said Mark Loranger, Chrysalis, CEO.

The Commerce Casino, which has added $200,00 to the prize pool, is sure to be abuzz on the 19th of February. Entertainment Tonight Host, Mark Steines and his wife, former Miss America Leanza Cornett, will co-host the star-studded event. Past participants include James Woods, Sam Simon, Ray Romano, Don Cheadle, and Jenny McCarthy.

Last year, Leron Washington won the event and took home the $100,000 first prize. Washington qualified online through ClubWPT, a subscription based online poker room affiliated with the World Poker Tour. The former boxer was happy to get an opportunity to prove himself and rub elbows with celebrities. “It’s a dream come true. I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. It’s really being able to get out and try to showcase my talent and sit alongside some of the pros and celebs,” he said after his victory.
