The World Poker Tour is back showing brand new episodes from their season 6 tour! However, you won’t find them on the Travel Channel. They have moved to the Game Show Network (GSN) and will be there for a long time coming. GSN has grown very popular for poker and blackjack shows, mainly due to quite possibly the best poker show ever ran, High Stakes Poker. I expect great things to come with this new move.

Don’t be worried if you think the show you love will be changing too much moving to the new network. That certainly is not the case! Much to my relief, they are still keeping the duo of Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten as the main commentators, which is one of the reasons of the shows success. All in all it will still be the same show that you love, just with a few behind the scene changes. GSN has showed that they are more than capable of running a great poker show on television.

The first event to be aired is the main event of the Mirage Poker Showdown which was played on May 19 – 23 in 2007. This was a $10,000 buy-in at the Mirage Casino in Vegas. The episode features many well known players such as Darrell Dicken, Amnon Filippi, Johnathon Little, and the dangerous Phil Ivey battling it out for the $1,000,000 first place prize! Could it be the time for Ivey to finally get his WPT win after making 7 final tables and still winless? Tune in tonight at 9:00 PM ET to find out! (Well, if you really want to check before the show airs you can, as it happened last May.)

The WPT on GSN will run every Monday at 9:00 PM ET. Next week will be the Bellagio Cup III which features players such as Shane Schleger, Kevin Saul, and the loud Mike Matusow. I am excited to view the hole cards and the moves the pros (and amateurs) make during season 6 of the WPT! Don’t miss it tonight!
