This past weekend “celebrated” a big day in the history of online poker. Exactly one year removed from online poker’s Black Friday (April 15th, 2011), players from around the world entered big internet events with even bigger guarantees. While the absence of American players is still noticeable, it seems most tournaments have nearly fully recovered since the US government rocked the poker world last April. Tournaments like the Sunday Million on PokerStars, and $250k on Bwin, are practically as strong as ever, as they both approached their pre-Black Friday prize pools yesterday.
Some sites have seen a drop-off, including one-time leader FullTilt, who is no longer operational due to in-house issues with payment processors. While players are still waiting on their funds from FullTilt, other sites like Party Poker have picked up their slack. Not only do they run one of the largest non-PokerStars majors (Sunday $200k) but they also are home to many other big events, including a $100,000 guaranteed high-roller with a $500 buy-in. That event went down to the wire this week, with “omomo” and “SaintJust_” deciding upon a chip-chop late in the game. The results of the $100k and other Sunday majors can be found below:
