There was plenty of action in the world of online poker events this past weekend. Taking the main stage was a special $1 buy-in event that looked to set the world record for number of entries in a poker tournament. Hosted by PokerStars, the $250,000 guaranteed tournament took place during their 10-year anniversary celebration. With a cap of “just” 200,000 players there was $50,000 in overlay for those involved. The added value was certainly felt at the final table, where three players decided to chop the remaining $100,000 in the middle based on chip counts. While it might have been a bit of an anti-climactic finish, it was still a huge feat for eventual winner “sokoluk1991” who took home the title and a massive $40,258 payday.
The events itself bested PokerStars previous record of 150,000 entrants. What is even more incredible is this was done after the banning of American players from their site. Below are the final table results based on the chip-chop deal of the last three players.

With most of the online poker world focused on the world-record event, it would be realistic to expect other events to drop off. However, that was not the case yesterday as all the major $200+ buy-in events saw a nice up-tick in action. The Bwin Sunday $250k got back above its quarter-million dollar guarantee, while the Million, Warm-Up, and Sunday500 on Stars also saw nice attendance gains.
