We’ve all dreamt about turning a cheap satellite to major event, and turning it into a fortune. We could then really show our skills, and play with the big dogs.

Well, SennaBoris79 from Russiadid just that. He turned $27 into a ticket for the TCOOP Main Event, and made the final table. A deal was done 7 handed, and he walked away with $193,069.50 for his 7th place.

For most of us, that would be the end of it. We would be over the moon, withdraw most of the funds, buy a bigger TV, and leave enough online to continue playing poker at a more comfortable level.

Boris didn’t do that. It doesn’t even look like he withdrew anything. What he did was jump straight into the high stakes games on Pokerstars, and just to rub salt into our wounds, he started to win.

Against some of the best Pokerstars has to offer, Boris started off as we’d expect, and dropped a buy in. Then the universe turned up on it’s head. After nearly an hour and a half, Boris left the tables, another $27k richer.

The next day didn’t see the universe right itself. Boris may have lost his 1st three buy ins inside 2 hours, but in a 45 minute rush at the end of his session Boris made more than I’ve made in my whole poker career. With another $41k to the good, Boris was beating the odds, and making a mockery of the high stakes regulars on Pokerstars.

On the 30th of January, the universe righted itself.

SennaBoris, obviously buoyed by his recent annihilation of the cream of the online cash world, continued to play these high stakes games. On the 30th of January, the bottom fell out of Boris’s universe, along with $110k from his bankroll.

Now, most players in this spot would take this as a warning, and run to the hills with the $150k we still had left. Guess what Boris did? Yep, that’s right, he sat back at the high stakes tables. Some may call him brave, some may call him deluded, some may even call him their hero. What no-one would argue about calling him is broke. After dropping another $114,150 Boris hasn’t been seen again at the high stakes tables.

Some think Boris has lost his internet connection, some think he has gone insane from the swings he has experienced. Others think he has withdrawn what little is left, and run away. I’m not sure, but what I do know is, we’ll see this story again. It’s just one of those things about online poker and variance.
