This week the poker world has converged on the Atlantis Hotel and Resort in the Bahamas for the 8th Annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

Yesterday saw Day 1 of the $100,000 buy-in High Roller Tournament. Day 1 began with 38 players and ended with 23. Initial chip stacks were 250,000. Tobias Reinkemeier finished Day 1 as the chip leader with a chip stack of 896,000. In second place with 846,000 is Daniel Negreaunu. The top five are rounded out by Bryn Kenney with 828,000 in chips, Nick Shulman with 705,000 and Daniel Cates with 622,000. The final day of the $100,000 High Roller Event will be Saturday January 8th.

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure tournament series is running from January 6th to January 16th and includes a total of 48 events. Saturday the 8th will be the final day of the Higher Rollers Event as well as Day 1 of the PCA Main Event, one of the largest and most prestigious live poker events in the world. Also, sources close to PokerStars have said that Saturday will likely be the unmasking of the real-life identity of PokerStars’ newest Team Pro, Isildur1. As of right now his real life identity remains a mystery, all that is known about Isildur1 is that he has challenged the toughest poker players in the world for the last few years and seen upswings and downswings of as much as $4 Million in a single day.

This week is guaranteed to be an exciting week in poker. The winner of the PCA High Roller Event will take $1.5 Million for first prize. Over a dozen big names are still alive in the tournament including Negreanu, Mercier, Benyamine, and Humberto Brenes. On top of that, the PCA Main Event will also have a seven figure first prize, Isildur1’s identity may be revealed, and crazy high stakes cash games are expected down in the Bahamas.
