We don’t know if it was Danny Ocean, but we do know that a man took $1.5 million worth of casino chips from the Bellagio Casino.

According to police, a man parked his motorcycle in the valet area of the casino during the early morning hours of December 14th. He walked up to a craps table, motorcycle helmet still on, pulled a gun and demanded money. He didn’t get cash, but his stocking was filled with more than $1 million in chips. After the robbery took place, the man fled.

Luckily, no one was hurt, this according to Lt. Clint Nichols. In fact, a casino employee dialed 911 while the man was still in the casino.

“They had a full staff, and they were on it quick,” he said.

It’s suspected the casino uses Radio-frequency identification (RFID) or some similar technology that will allow them to track the stolen chips.

Las Vegas casinos may seem like Fort Knox, but this marks the tenth casino robbery of 2010. In 2009, nine casino robberies took place.

The surveillance cameras provided little information about the robber. It’s believed the man is Caucasian, a little under six feet tall, and about 220 pounds. He is suspected of robbing the Suncoast Casino poker room last week.

Las Vegas residents with any information are urged to call the Robbery Section at 828-3521. To remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers at 385-5555.
