The second Superstar Showdown on PokerStars saw Isildur1 defeat poker pro Tony G in a battle of poker supremacy.

These two are no strangers to each other. After Isildur1’s infamous rise and subsequent fall at the hands of Brian Hastings on Full Tilt Poker, Tony G offered to stake Isildur1 for the Party Poker Big Game. Tony G claimed he talked with Isildur1, finding out his identity, and claimed he worked out a deal for Isildur1 to show up to the Big Game while wearing a mask to keep is identity secret. After Isildur was a no show for the game, Tony G claimed he was done dealing with the unknown Swede.

Fast forward to the present where Tony G challenged Isildur to the SuperStar Showdown. The SuperStar Showdown is PokerStars’ newest promotion. Challengers play Isildur for 2500 hands in a mix of Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Hold’Em. Players must escrow at least 1500 big blinds at a minimum of $50/$100 to compete. The winner is the player who shows a profit after 2500 hands. The first Showdown had Isildur face off with Issac Haxton. Haxton was victorious in that encounter.

Today, though, Isildur1 was able to find his way to victory, but Tony G made a game out of it. With 60 hands to go, Tony G was only down around $14,000. The outspoken pro showed lots of heart and tried to 5-bet  shove for $20,000 with K6 for a chance at the lead late in the match, but he was quickly called by Isildur1’s KK. The board ran out no help for Tony G, helping Isildur to an approximately $45,000 win.

Isildur1’s next opponent in the challenge is unknown. Isildur mentioned he wanted a rematch with Haxton in a post-game interview after the last challenge, so fans might see the first rematch in the SuperStar Showdown.
