International Game Technology (IGT) has been heavily marketing its most recent interactive poker game, Texas Hold ‘Em Heads Up Poker. You may have seen their demonstration at the World Series of Poker. IGT took advantage of the thousands of poker fans in the casino, and the millions tuned in for the Main Event.

John Daley, director of video poker for IGT, commented that IGT’s new game allows competition against a slot machine. The game’s slot machine is the first poker game to use a neural net, a mathematical model created and designed by other computers which simulates the workings of a human brain. The technology is supposed to be highly developed, and will include all of poker’s strategic moves like bluffing, bet sizing, and more. When playing, users can expect to interact with an opponent who thinks on an advanced level.

“For a customer, it’s less intimidating than playing at a live poker table experience,” said Daley. “In some ways, it helps a player learn the game of hold ’em so they become comfortable with sitting at a live poker table.”

A typical game will not move as fast as a video poker or live game, due to the amount of thinking required by both the computer and the human in heads up Texas Hold ‘Em.

“This is a game that players of every level can test their craftiest bluffing strategies and Texas Hold’em skills against,” said IGT Executive Vice President Eric Tom.
