His troubles began at 4:30a.m. in a hand against MR B 2 U SON. Dwan raised preflop to $3k and had MR B call from the small blind. Patrik Antonius also made the call from the big blind and the flop came 4s 2d As. MR B then led out with a $7k bet which pushed Antonius out of the pot. Dwan however wasn’t going anywhere as he pushed it up to $21,200 with his reraise. MR B kept up the aggression though, popping it up to $72,600 which would prompt Dwan to put the $12,645 more he had in the middle as well. MR B called the final raise and showed 4c 4d for a set of fours, while Dwan turned over 2s Ac for two pair. Dwan’s chances were slip as he would need to catch an ace on the turn or river to win. The river brought the 3h which meant Dwan could also spike a five on the river for a tie, however the river was the final four from the deck giving MR B quads and the win in the pot worth $179,488.

Later on in the morning Dwan would begin to battle heads up against Patrik Antonius. In the first large pot between the two Dwan would raise from the button to $3k and be called by Antonius. The flop came 5d 6d 3d and Antonius checked the action to Dwan who bet out $4,800. Antonius went for the check-raise though which pushed the bet up to $20,400. Dwan then came back over the top, putting in a raise big enough to put Antonius all in. Antonius did make the call though and turned over Jd As for ace high with a jack high flush draw. Dwan flipped over 3c 6c for two pair and would need to dodge diamonds and running jacks/aces. The turn came the 9d though and Antonius made his flush, leaving Dwan drawing to 4 full house outs to win the pot. The river was the 5c however and Antonius took down the $117,992 pot with a suckout.

Soon enough the heads up battle would result in a pot worth just under $300k. Antonius raised the button to $3k and Dwan reraised to $9k. Antonius called and the flop came 5s Tc 6c. Dwan put out a continuation bet of $13,200 and Antonius called behind. The Qs then came on the turn and Dwan bet out again, this time for $34,200. Antonius then pushed all in and Dwan called the over $90k raise to see a showdown. Dwan flipped over Jd Jh for a pair of jacks which was in trouble as Antonius showed Ks Qc for a pair of queens. Dwan would need to catch one of the two remaining jacks in the deck on the river to take down the pot. The river was the 7h however and Antonius took down the $297,587 pot with his pair of queens.
