Over 5,200 players registered for the sixth event of MiniFTOPS. MiniFTOPS is the little brother of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS). MiniFTOPS’ buy-ins are 10% of their counterpart, but the action doesn’t suffer. This was especially true in Mini FTOPS #6 because the format was Super Turbo which isn’t quite Rush Poker, but by no means can players sit there and wait for Aces or Kings.
The $31+$2 event was hosted by Bruno Stefanelli. The Italian, a 7 Card Stud specialist, failed to cash. In fact, not one of the 17 Full Tilt Red Pros made it in the money. Players like David Pham, Lee Watkinson, and WSOP Champion Scott Fischman simply fell victim to the variance monster inherit in large-field, super turbo tournaments. Michael Craig, an underrated and magnanimous professional, made it the farthest before succumbing to the nature of the beast in 616th position.
When the tournament got headsup, fabi2266 and Krugr84 decided to strike a deal. Then, with their ‘Raise Buttons’ still smoking, the pair resumed battle.
When all the pushing and shoving was over, fabi2266 was the last one standing behind a mountain of chips. His victory earned him over $25,176 and must have been quite a relief. This winter, fabi2266 has gone deep in several of the $26 Guaranteed Freezeouts on Full Tilt Poker, but he couldn’t manage to make the ever elusive final table. On Friday, he ended that drought with a five-figure BOOM!
Kugr84, the runner-up, is no slouch. Hailing from Costa Rica, he has amassed nearly $200,000 in tournament winnings across PokerStars, Cereus, and Full Tilt Poker. His $27,000 score in Mini FTOPS #6 bested his previous top mark of $5,300.
