After months of anticipation, Patrik Antonius and Tom “Durrrr” Dwan have started playing the “Durrrr Challenge.”  A few months ago Tom Dwan challenged the entire poker world (all but Phil Galfond) to a 40,000 hand heads-up match in either NL Hold’em or Pot-Limit Omaha.  A few professionals quickly accepted including Antonius, Phil Ivey, and David Benyamine.

The stipulations of the bet are simple.  Players will 4-table PLO or NL heads-up for 40,000 hands.  At the end of the 40,000 hands the player who is up wins.  If Dwan is ahead he wins an additional $500,000 from his opponent.  If his competitor happens to be ahead, he pockets an additional $1,500,000.

For those unaware, Tom Dwan is a young high-stakes professional from New Jersey.  He plays the highest stakes offered online and live including NL Hold’em, Limit Hold’em and PLO.  Over the past 2-3 years he has earned over $3,000,000 playing in the nosebleed games on FullTilt.

Patrik Antonius is also no slouch.  The Finnish-born player is widely considered one of the best poker players in the world.  He can also be found playing in the biggest games running on FullTilt.  Just like Durrrr, Antonius has made well over $3,000,000 playing online the past few years.

The match can be found on four $200/$400 PLO tables titled “Durrrr Challenge 1,2,3,4” on FullTilt.  With the players 4-tabling this match could easily take a month or more, so stay tuned in for updates through out February and March!
