Do you remember back in the day, Tom “durrrr” Dwan issued a challenge to playone not named “Phil Galfond” heads up for 50,000 hands at No Limit Hold’em or Pot Limit Omaha at $200/$400 or higher? The deal included a bonus to the winner, if durrrr won, his opponent would pay $500,000, while if durrrr lost, he would pay out a massive $1,500,000.
Dan “jungleman” Cates was one of the challengers, and he’s recently been using twitter to raise the fact that this challenge has never been finished.

After some public back and forth on twitter, with David “viffer” Peat stirring the pot, Tom and Dan get together away from the prying eyes of the internet, and we were hoping that the challenge was back in force.

Yesterday, we saw Dwan and Cates face off over 4 NLHE $200/$400 tables, and we were excited that the challenge was back on. We also caught some of the action to bring to you:

So, it seemed that the challenge was back on, and jungleman had edged out a $9,328 lead over the 247 hands they played. While it was a small session, the challenge was back on.

Or not:

With this challenge making waves in the poker community, we are waiting with baited breath to see what happens. Will Tom Dwan try and buy out of the challenge? Will jungleman continue to call durrrr out on twitter? Will viffer continue to stick his oar in?

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this, and will bring you the latest news, exclusively on FTR.
