History was made last night as the biggest online poker bad beat jackpot of all-time hit, for a massive EUR $1,265,583 ($1.4 Million). It happened on the Gtech G2 Poker Network, at the micro tables at Boss. The player holding the bad beat jackpot hand, losing with quad kings, OmgoMgomGo won the largest bad beat jackpot prize ever, EUR 442,954 ($640,696). That’s well over half a million dollars!

Bad beat jackpots are triggered in casinos when a player with an extremely strong poker hand, usually a full house or better, loses to another player who has a super strong hand, like four of a kind or a straight flush. The one main rule is that both cards, of both players, have to play in the hand, for it to be considered a bad beat. This world record breaking jackpot was triggered when pocket kings got it all in preflop against pocket aces.

Bad beat jackpot winner OmgoMgomGo, who is from Finland, was ecstatic, “I had KK and all the money went in pre-flop. Once I hit my quads (on the flop of KKA) and saw the second Ace come on the river I was hoping that my opponent had hit their 1 outer! When I realized it had happened I was so happy, I still cannot believe it!”

The winner of the hand with quad aces, 7Adelaida7, still won a massive EUR 331,477 ($320,391). The other 7 players in the hand all received EUR 31,639 ($45,766) each for being in the hand. Those are some huge payouts!

Even with the bad beat jackpot hit, the GTech G2 Bad Beach Jackpot reset to $360,000 and remains the largest starting bad beat jackpot in online poker. And just like lotteries around the world, until a player collects the jackpot it keeps growing and growing. It will likely be some time before we see another bad beat jackpot of this magnitude.

After the win, OmgoMgomGo remained totally blown away. “I still cannot believe it! The atmosphere at the table when it hit was great! I would like to thank all of the players and the Poker Heaven staff for their best wishes. As for what I am going to do with the cash, I am planning to buy a house, a car and will certainly be partying hard.”
