Definition
Also known as check-raising. Sometimes this is frowned upon because it is being ‘dishonest’ as you are not betting the hand like you should. In modern times, it is rare to be berated for sand-bagging/check-raising as it has become a crucial component of poker strategy.
Example
He was accused of sandbagging after he checked to John and then raised his bet shortly after.
