Definition
A strategy that is executed when a player in the blinds believes that a pre-flop raiser is attempting to steal the blinds, i.e., to bluff pre-flop in the hope that all the other players fold. The blind defender will call or re-raise, and either hope to hit the flop or force a showdown with the suspected blind stealer. Blind defense is more common in tight games where hands are often folding around to a pre-flop raiser in late position who may be attempting to steal the blinds.
Example
"The last 4 times I was in the big blind, he raised from the cut-off and forced me out of the hand, so this time I was determined to defend my blind."
