In ring games, these values are constant and the big blind is usually about twice the small blind (some exceptions include games with a 10c and 25c blinds as well as games with $2 and $5 blinds). In these games a standard buy in is 100BBs. In tournament type games, players each start with a specific number of blinds, and the value of the blinds increases as the tournament progresses.
